G8 coupe engine line-up same as Camaro?
I think we get too caught up in the alphabet soup of these engines rather than the actual output/performance...
With that said, the LS3 would make perfect sense as the standard V8 for the Camaro except for the fact that it lacks Active Fuel Management which I think GM has stated will be on the car.
The L76 of course has this fuel saving feature and is easily a 400hp engine with a different tune or intake and exhaust configuration.
We don't really lose either way...

However, assuming it to be true, what if they were referring to the V6 when they said that?
Have you put accleration to a L76 engine for a consistent 4 days in a row?
I would be happy with the L76 as the powerplant. If LS3... than it is. Either way it would be good....... The L76 pushing my G8 3885 lbs vehicle very well....... you can't even feel the weight drag. I'm assuming the Camaro will not be over 3885 in weight.
We have a year left until the Camaro hits the dealership. Either way, we have not had words of Manuf. plant setup for build or what have you. Whatever the secrecy, words of plant setup would confirm area of production.
If it's coming from Aussie, West Coast will be the first to have ownership just like the G8. Allotment will be much higher for West Coast.
Check this Solstice Coupe supposedly out next fall. The color paint job is oustanding like no other:

The 400 or so horse is the LS3 engine used by GM-North America. It is going to be phased into Holden's cars over the next couple or few years.
....
The 2nd V8 engine will likely be a low production, comparatively high priced model pushing horsepower in the Shelby GT500 range

Thanks for the 411.... didn't know it's a Club Racer... hahahaha I want to join the club!
That's what I'm getting at.... nothing is for sure as we know. Where is the confirmation that everything is currently being setup in the plant for the build right now?

The last Impala was produced at Oshawa 2 in November of last year. All W body production is now in Oshawa 1 with #2 being retooled as the flex line Camaro will be built on.
Pontiac.com shows the curb weight of the G8GT to be 3,995 lbs. I'm assuming that's a base car with no options? All the magazines that tested the GT came in around 4,100 lbs or so.
There is nothing wrong with the L76 and I don't think anyone said there was. It's just the LS3 is more powerful and a better choice for the Camaro IMO. Why not get some extra power for whatever price GM will charge for the base V8 Camaro.
ya, but they are charging a premium for the LS3 in the GXP, it would be easy (and logical $$$) to do the same for the camaro. Also, it was disclosed long ago that the camaro would have DoD, which the L76 has.
It was CONFIRMED by Lutz that the 300 hp 3.6L V6 used in the CTS will be Camaro's V6 powerplant. Lutz (I'm assuming he is credible) said it and we've seen the spy photos of it.....I really don't know what more there is to discuss about the V6????
As for the V8......The only thing CONFIRMED is we will NOT see the LS2 or the LS7. Everything else is 100% SPECULATION..... We SPECULATE it will be the L76 or LS3 for the "Base" V8 and we SPECULATE there will be "Top Dawg/GT 500 Fighter/Z28/ZR1..... blah blah blah call it whatever you want" with 500+ HP.....but the truth is WE DON"T KNOW YET. We don't even know if there will be a "Top Dawg" at all....or if it will come out in a year or two later or ten after the base models.....
Just remember the words that came from the man himself.......
"Forget EVERYTHING you know about engines".......

All there is to know about the Camaro is in these forums. There is rumour and speculation, but there is also fact.
Oshawa is fact.
