Agreed. They are somewhat smaller, but certainly not 80% gone.
As are the lines at the bottom of the door. You can see more in this camo'd pic than you can in the white one.

Just shows you HOW much is hidden by that flat white fuzzy pic. You can hardly see that lower part of the door on the white uncamo'd pic.

God BLESS ya, Blue89Bird -- and thanks for the kind thoughts.

Hey, I'm just a car guy diggin the current horsepower wars like I did in high school (graduated in 1971). If I didnt care about the new Camaro and GMs current state of affairs, I wouldnt be posting on here. I apoligize for the n*thugger comment, but other people on here were calling people blind for not seeing the extended hips, and I thought that wasnt right. The reason these discussions happen is because Camaro Z28.com members are so passionate about the new Camaro. I have to transport an 07 Shelby GT500 convertible to Florida tomorrow, so that will give me time to chill out a while, (actually I'll be sweating in 85 degree heat), thinking about how the new Camaro designers have to make a car that is instantly recognizable as a Chevrolet Camaro, has to appeal to truck drivers, construction laborers, as well as secretaries and nurses, and hope they get it right.
Im not going to bitch about it until I see a good quality picture of the finished copy, but I have to admit I just had a small stroke... Im with GTOJack on this one and im scared haha ...kids these days and there sh#tty camera phones
well--------THIS has certainly been an interesting ride...........
You know -- I've been in this business for so long -- and some of what I'm reading here would be humorous if it weren't so sad/pathetic/saidagajilliontimesbefore.
When I was a puppy -- I remember going over to my Grandfather's garage -- and in that garage was one of the first 1960 Chevrolets that was shipped to my uncle's dealership. No one had seen them yet....and I was horrified. I thought the 58s and 59s were beautiful (so I was all of the age of 4 and 5 and 6 -- so sue me.....) --- and the 1960 actually had me in tears -- I thought it was HIDEOUS!!!! (and we sold a ton of 'em and a few months later I thought my Mom's Parkwood Wagon was the cat's jammies.......)
Fast forward a few years -- spy pics of the 68 Chevelle and Caprice-- again -- horrified -- and yet those are now two of my all-time favorite classic Chevrolets...
1977 Downsized Caprice -- people went berserk -- "GM will be out of business by the end of the year !!" cried a few people in hysterics.....-- yet we sold them in STUPID HUGE numbers.
2nd gen Camaros -- people would walk into the showroom and either throw up or hug it - -and yet the 2nd gen has the highest number of Camaros and Firebirds ever built.
Spy pics of C5 Corvette -- a lynch mob over spy pics. Hugely successful.
Spy pics of C6 Corvette -- some of the very people complaining today were screaming like speared banshees -- and yet, very successful.
2002 Camaro 35th Anniversary Camaro -- we unveiled it at Carlisle and people kept coming up to me with all kinds of kudos with exception of three people -- (well - actually a few were upset that we didn't put the
LS6 engine in it...) -- and one lady was CERTAIN we'd just start to build 1969 Camaros for the anniversary (??????)
I got back to the hotel room after a veryyy long day -- very happy at the way the cars were received -- logged onto this site -- and we were being crucified!!!!. Funny thing...they sold out to the point where we could have built 10,000 of them and sold every one......and some of the very people that were screaming "$59 dollar decal package!!!" were the very ones then screaming that I couldn't build theirs fast enough!
So......yup -- you're allowed an opinion....but please keep in mind that Jason has an archive -- and you just may look silly in a year or so.........
(the old adage "it is better to be silent and thought the fool -- than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt!!!" )
(--just because you can say something doesn't mean you should...)
Finally -- there are a few people asking us to remove cammo --
What makes you think we're DONE???? What makes you think that what you're looking at has received final parts? What makes you think we're not sweating every detail -- What makes you think the cars have complete taillamps and exhaust tips and trim pieces??? (......see -- unless you're IN the auto industry -- you probably don't know that it's entirely possible that the headlights underneath that bra are off the shelf headlights - and NOT the ones we're gonna use....)
OK........that's my 2 cents (not adjusted for inflation) for the day.
(and I DO have a long memory, Jack!)

When it comes to the keyboard today It is more a definer of who has a clue and who does not.
Sometimes I think be clueless about something would be so much less stressful like in the old days.
I miss the old days where I would go with my Great Uncle a Retired GM engineer and go see his Buick 225 and Chevy Chevelle he would buy every year. He would always get the first car in the dealer [later August early Sept] where it was delivered and he would have to wait a week or so before GM would release the car since they were not shown to the public yet.
Hidden away at the dealer we would be permitted to go look at it since he would order these car sight unseen. Those are days I will always remember.
His reaction to some of the cars he ordered were great to watch as he was from the Old School GM as he worked through the years 1927-1961. Conservitive is to not the right word to use to discribe him. He went to Buicks because of the late 50's fins at Caddy.
My greatest honnor was to drive his last new car from the dealer before he passed away. He paid cash for all his cars and as we went to leave the Buick dealer he handed me the keys since I just got my permit.
I am glad we did not have a internet back then as it would have stole some of my best memories.

Know what's funny?
If someone here put a body kit on their '69 Z like this, most of you complaining right now about how you like this, would trash them for a goudy, tacky, ugly "add on"...

I personlly give them kuddos for making it look more integrated while maintaining most of what some liked.

Why on earth would GM take a bold new Camaro concept car that 90% of the public liked and CHANGE it?

And liking the direction, is far from liking a carbon copy of the Concept.
There were numerous things on it that even we could all agree we didn't like.
And Scott was right, when I first laid eyes on the '70 Camaro, I nearly threw UP! My dad owning a '68 SS at the time. But by the time I saw a candy red '71 Split Bumper, I loved it! It held its own ground.

Some random thoughts:
1) The prototype is different than the concept - you didn't really believe all that "the production car is exactly like the concept" stuff, did you?
2) The Camaro prototype is far more faithful to the concept than say, the Solstice was to it's concept.
3) The concept's "hips" are not production achievable with current steel stamping technology.
4) Note the pointier nose.
5) I'm glad this picture leaked, because I am not at all turned off by it. In fact, it's a relief to see it, as I was really turned off by those ugly camo'd Australia mule pics.
6) I'm thinking that this one is either a V6 or SS.
7) Weight. If weight is good, I'm closer to buying one or two of them.

My biggest concern in this area is the maximum tire size....I want BIG tires......

I'm still excited about this car, even though I had a bit of fear the final car will loose too much of concept's styling. I now think this car is going to look awesome when it finally rolls off the production. The one thing I hope Chevy does is have the larger wheels as an option. The tires on the mule looks so completely out place on that car.
Guys, seriously...this is NOT the place to start dicing each other's words up and using them against each other. Things are to remain civil and everyone is expected to respect each others opinions, even if there is a difference between them.
