If the interiors of the new Malibu, CTS, and Lambda SUVs are any indication, the "Plastic by Fisher Price" interior days at GM are over.

I agree, it seems GM has stepped up the interior quality of its products a good bit over the past couple of years. I'm not worried one bit about it

You can go on and on about what the picture MAKES you think.....but trust me -- you're gonna be blown away (in a good way) when you see the final product.

PERIOD.

End of story.

Sorry for the stress Scott. I don't mean to come off as a . Believe me, I'm buying the new Camaro. I am a TRUE FBody fanatic. The Dodge Charger I own now is my FIRST departure since 1987 when I bought a Grand National from my string of FBodies. (and my ONLY departure from GM in my 27 years of car ownership) And frankly the Charger is really the wife's car. I drive a 99 Trans Am as my Daily Driver.
I made the pilgrimage to Atlanta last year to see the concept at the unveiling and even had my picture taken with you Scott.
I'll trust you that I will not be disappointed with MY Camaro convertible.
Now please take me off of your "naughty list".

Thanks for the kind words.

Interesting comment about your interior.

I was recently going thru a lot of 'stuff' I have stored away -- and one of the things I came across was a rather large folder of press articles for when the '93 Camaro (and Firebird) were launched.

We received many accolades for the interiors! Yup....sounds strange...but it's important to understand that the car went from 1993 thru 2002 without much investment in a larger scale -- frankly, most of the money went into ride/handling (that's why a late 4th gen SS will STILL humiliate cars costing far more.....) -- and performance.

Also -- important to understand the interiors of other cars in 1993.......the bottom line is that we went from 'best in class' interior in 1993 -- to middling simply because the car -- and the architecture -- got old -- while other cars and trucks got new architecture or substantial rework. Remember: the Fcar was destined to end production in 1998 -- and thus, precious little money was available.....thankfully we were able to keep it in production thru the 2002 model year.

You can be sure we're spending a lot of time on ALL the details -- from body fit and finish -- to interior comfort and quality and tactile feel -- to class leading performance.........and then some!

I really loved the "driver-centric" nature of the console on the 4th gen. I think that's what I will miss the most about it.

So... This is the 3rd Thursday of the month. Anybody know if they're still planning on putting up some new info on the Chevy Nation site?

Or are they going to consider out Camaro 'fix' taken care of for the month with all these spy shots? Which is fine with me, I'm just curious...

What makes you think the 5th gen won't have it?

Well, and I could be mistaken on this, but "driver-centric" to me had to do with the way the console was angled slightly towards the driver. To me it had more of a "cockpit" type of feel then the straight across type of console that you find in current day Mustangs, or from appearances, the concept camaro.

I have a feeling I might be confused about the definition of "driver-centric" though.

Is the GT500 and Challenger in that class? If so or not could I petition to have the ZR1 added to that class....

I gave up on that site. Better info on CZ28.

I would love to see a leather dash on the Camaro like on the new Vettes. Probably not feasible in this price range but still would be nice...maybe aftermarket.

Well, after 45 min of skimming this thread, I'm adding my .02. Scott, I just want to take a second to thank you and the Camaro team over at GM for bringing the historic automotive name of the Camaro back. I think that this car will bring the name back to its roots of a muscle car. It will not be an over the top show car, it looks to me to be a well crafted, no nonsence, take crap from no one drivers car. It may not appeal to all, but it stirs something in me, that gets me excited to turn the computer on and drool some more. I take your word for the final product, not some badly lit, crappy angled, cell phone picture. Thank you again.
