You cannot do jacksh!t for that. That might pay for a new grill and some new wheels. Maybe some new tail light lenses or dash pad. Anyway, basically a Camaro with an arrowhead on the grill. I see no point to that.
maybe give that to the aussies to do!!!! maybe not 10-15mil, but they sure can get the job done cheaper....

I have always been partial to the pontiac's version of the F-body, from 1st gen to 4th gen. except for the 3rd, in which only the IROC will sway my opinion. It's been a little more than 10 years since I had her, but she is still very much in my heart:

Granted, if the firebird is a rebadge of the chevy, then, I agree with you, "Anyway, basically a Camaro with an arrowhead on the grill. I see no point to that".

Something like this with a little more 'FIRE' added to make it a Firebird. Maybe SWB with a more aggresive nose and different tail lights.

That's funny. Mustang people were saying the same thing about the Camaro last year.

If they bring the bird back.. they either need to make it
-- look like the 2nd gen (the camaro looks like a first gen)

or -- make it completely modern.

I'd prefer modern.. mainly because it would be awesome to be able to choose a retro look CAMARO or a modern FIREBIRD (since both of them looked pretty similar in the past, no use having two retros, really)

Personally, in today's retro-happy world, I think a modern-styled Firebird / Trans Am is just about enough to differentiate it from a retro Camaro.

Just my opinion.

Exactly! If they made it, make it as cutting edge and "dangerous" as they dare. If it flops, no problem, because it's not like you designed the whole car, just the body and interior.

And another thing....

If Solstice and Sky can be justified.... on their own platform....

Firebird and Camaro certainly can be.... on a platform that will be shared with other vehciles!

Boy, I think that would cost hundreds of millions to design, manufacture and market. The money, would probably come out of the Camaros hide - and so would most of it's sales.

I haven't been keeping up on the latest GTO news so forgive my ignorance, but
is GM planning on pushing forward with it into a new design? If so, I don't forsee much hope in two V8 RWD performance coupes for Pontiac. I've been a Firebird and Camaro fan for a long time but I doubt they'll spread themselves too thin....unless they'd go the route Dodge did with the Charger for the GTO and bring back the Firebird. (go ahead...roast me for that comment) I pined after a 98-02 WS6 for quite some time until I spied the 70 Baldwin-Motion clone I bought....but now it's starting all over with the new Camaro. At least I have a little while to think about it

If this is the case, though... why was Firebird justified for production for 35 or so years?

Also, why is Solstice or Sky... two products that will likely sell less than a Firebird... justified.

Finally, Firebird would share a platform, not only with Camaro, but with all the other cars on the platform.

Yes, it will take some Camaro sales. No Doubt. However, the same can be said for Solstice and Sky. Add in the fact that a modern styled Firebird would be the ONLY non-retro pony car choice out there, and you could have a decent situation for it.

I'm not sure of what it should look like, but I'd hope quite abit edgier than the G6.

BTW, if Pontiac is still around, a new G6 coupe is still being planned for it's line up, somewhere around '09/'10/'11. I'd prefer if this program were converted to a more aggressive and sporty Firebird than some generic G6 coupe. Maybe some excitement for the "excitement division", huh?. And I think a solid business case could be made for it....especially since funds are already earmarked for a "coupe". Since EP2 will already incorporated AWD and the HF V6 this time, all the building blocks will be there. This could be a hot and relevant and unique product for Pontiac.

But, most of you guys won't be happy until Pontiac is dead, so nevermind.

Things change.

There was a time when Trans Am (that is Trans Am alone. ), sold 100,000 units annually. Those days are gone.
