Sources tell the Spies that big news could be coming out of GM very soon about the impending confirmation of the Camaro becoming a reality.
So what's new about that?
Not much, but that's not the scoop.
The Spies have learned when they do announce it will be built, they will also mention the return of the Firebird and Trans AM will not be far behind the Camaro.
And why not we say?
Pontiac dealers are desperate for hot product so this makes perfect sense.

If so, this is the first inkling of a return.
The folks here with connections haven't mentioned one iota of Firebird though. Quite the opposite actually. So, I'd take this a grain of salt.

Wasn't there talk that there wouldn't be a Firebird because it would compete too closely with a Camaro? I guess for any company, your plans keep changing with the market.

As much as I hope it is accurate, I am not so sure it is. Seems like every post I make in this forum, I gotta end it with "time will tell" or "we'll see" or "let's keep hoping for the future". Pick one.

Autospies just aren't what they used to be. Sorry, but somebody's mom's cousin's best friend's dad's son who spoke to another man who's friend saw another friend at a photoshoot who said that, at the photoshoot, his friend told him that his other friend knows a mail room employee who accidently overhead one of the GM workers who overheard someone in high places give this wonderful information.

Afew months ago I was 100% sure that there would be no new Firebird. But recently, I've been feeling more like 95% sure there would be no new Firebird.
If there is to be a new gen Firebird, I would really want it to distance itself from Camaro. Let the Firebird sprout some wings and and take flight, so to speak.
Maybe Firebird can replace the next gen Epsilon 2 G6. (I hear the moaning already). Pontiac could really use a max effort, aggressively styled, FWD/AWD coupe. With some serious powertrains as well. I'm thinking turbo HF V6's and 6 speed autos and manuals.
Well, I think it's a good idea anyway. There would be some crossover shopping with Camaro, but would not necessarily be interchangeable, ( as in the past)...and Firebird could then appeal to new and different market niche's .
Ah, never mind. Most of you guys would probably rather see Pontiac killed off.....
You know what, I'm gonna get flamed anyway, so ...WTF...I also want a shaker hoodscoop that says T/A 3.6 Turbo.
