I read an article about GM using some "hybrid" cars as test mules. Had firebird or TA tail lights and Camaro noses (or the reverse, I think it was TA rear camaro front). They showed one in an article in GMHTP some time ago.

Nah dude..he said from the front, it was a WS6. Bumper, hood, headlights...everything....He said from the front you would have no reason to believe that it wasnt a WS6...But he said from the rear..it had the camaro taillights..the SS spoiler, it said camaro on the back and it had the SS badge on the back.

The test model from GM with half TA and half Camaro panels did not have a uniform look. Where the TA met the Camaro just didn't line up. So, unless his car looked retarded as hell from the side, it didn't have a swapped doghouse.

Most likely explanation is the guy didn't know what he saw.

WS6's and Firehawks run slightly faster than SS's because of where the IAC (inlet air something) is located more foward under the hood, where the air is cooler - instead of closer to the engine. There's a mod with a resistor to trick it into thinking the incoming air temp was always lower than it would ever be in the summer (30-60'?).

But the IAC position difference of SS/WS6's isn't something that would determine a winner in a street race IMO.

Only difference between the LS1 in the C5 and the F-body is that the Corvette has Throttle by Wire
