The test model from GM with half TA and half Camaro panels did not have a uniform look. Where the TA met the Camaro just didn't line up. So, unless his car looked retarded as hell from the side, it didn't have a swapped doghouse.
Most likely explanation is the guy didn't know what he saw.
WS6's and Firehawks run slightly faster than SS's because of where the IAC (inlet air something) is located more foward under the hood, where the air is cooler - instead of closer to the engine. There's a mod with a resistor to trick it into thinking the incoming air temp was always lower than it would ever be in the summer (30-60'?).
But the IAC position difference of SS/WS6's isn't something that would determine a winner in a street race IMO.
