Help !!!Keep Burning Plug wires
I just installed a new set of taylor wires sunday and one is burnt and sparking to the headers.
I routed them a dif way this time but they are just to close I guess. Is there anything I can put over them to help keep them from burning?

Taylor makes heat-treated fiberglass boots that are safe to over 1000 degrees. Thunder Racing carries them...
Or you can go ape with zip-ties, or use an over-the-valve cover setup like many of us are opting for.

Surely.

I'm not using the boots though, because with the MACs, it is physically impossible to burn the wires (or pinch them) with the way I have routed them.

I'm guessing it's the number 6 wire huh? had the same thing happen to my msd superconductors with my edelbrock headers. Here's how I remedied it. It's kind of expensive, but it works well. Over a year with no problems now. Accel makes shorty plugs to work with these cars, and they give you about 1/4-1/2 inch more clearance. Doesn't sound like much, but it makes a big difference. I also had to ditch the MSD wires and went with Accel Extreme 9000 wires. They have a heat reflective boot, and they are very good wires. The most important thing I did is route the number 6 wire around the back of the oil dipstick to keep it off the header primary. It makes the wire a tight fit to reach the distributor, but it will reach, and you won't have any more problems.
I could be wrong, but with edelbrock TES on a dual cat car, I don't think it's possible to go over the valve covers. the way the headers are shaped, they don't leave enough room to run the wires up on the driver side. The TES for single cat cars has no problem because they are shaped very differently.
I used Accel 9000s too and have had no problems. For #6 I used the longest wire in the set and routed it so that it went past the plug and then looped around back up to it which routed the wire no closer than about an inch from the pipe.
