ZO6/295 Problems

Im trying to install my Z06 wheels with 295/35/18 s on my car and the tire was hitting the bump stop. So I bought some 5/16" spacers and now there is not enough stud for the lugs. So whats next? Longer studs? Am I going about this the right way? Please Help!!

Also, am I going to have a rubbing problem with this setup and a 1.5" drop?

What size tire do you have in the rear? Did you run into any problems with them?

Re: ZO6/295 Problems

The 18x10.5" Z06 wheels have a 58mm offset / 8" backspace, so the problem is predictable. You actually have slightly more backspace with that wheel than with the 11" wide 50mm offset / 7.93" backspace ZR1/Grand Sport wheels. So you have to do what all of us with the 11" wide ZR1/GS wheels do.

You have to cut the edge off the jounce bumper bracket and possibly hammer the inner fenders when you lower the car (if they don't rub already) and optimize the centering of the body side-to-side over the axle with a panhard rod. The alternative would be to get a wheel with a 50mm offset to minimize the problem in the first place.

Adding the spacer is equivalent to fitting a 51mm offset, so you have corrected one problem, and created at least one new problem with the studs being too short. Longer studs are available. As you can see from the post above, you may also have increased risk with the spacers. Not everyone agrees with using them.

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for!

Do you know of any vehicles that use the longer stud? Instead of getting the blank stare when I go to the auto parts store and explain what Im looking for.
