Would a 275 40 17 go on it ok? Or do you need 315s

 

Check the FAQ.... most tire manufacturer's will accept wheel widths from 9.0" - 11.0" for a 275/40-17. Whether its the "best" choice, or even looks good is sort of subjective. I'd guess 99% of the people with 17x11 wheels run a 315/35.

 

275s will work but they really look stretched, IMO theres no point in getting wider wheels if youre not going to put wider tires on. If you want 275s then get 9.5" wheels all round.

 

If you dont' want bigger tires run the smaller tire and lighter wheels...

 

That wasnt my issue, just the fact that my tires are still really good, and was wanting to be able to use them, but if they wont work or look good I will just by new tires

 

Just go look on tirerack to see if your tire size will fit on a 11 inch rim. If it does I would just use them until you wear them out.

That's where the info in the FAQ came from. Some manufacturers or specific tire lines may vary a bit, but the data in the FAQ covers 90% of the cases.

315 on an 11" wide wheel, compared to a 275 on a 9.5" wide wheel.
