What Backspacing to fit 11.5" wheel?
What Backspacing to fit 11.5" wheel?
I was thinking of getting a 17x9.5 49mm offset, and getting a pair widened 2" so it would be 17x11.5..Now i saw some previous posts where a fellow named H8 BN SLO from the LS1TECH site, mounted 335's on 18x11.5 Iforged wheels..I cant seem to get a hold of him to find out his offset, and Iforged doesnt seem to want to help me at all. So im kinda stuck, can anybody help? I have the wheel figured out a 17x9.5" with 49mm original offse ammounts to 7.18" of backspacing (10.5/2 = 5.25 +1.93")(10.5 used because of the 1" Lip). Then add the 2" which would make 9.18" backspacing correct? I think i would need a spacer...but i have no idea how much spacer to run..Anybody know? Injuneer?

Re: What Backspacing to fit 11.5" wheel?
Other posts with 17" rims seem to have success with 335s on a 17x11 with 50mm offset. This makes 7.97" backspacing (12/2=6+1.97). So im guessing I would need a 1" spacer on 18x9.5 wheels (10.5 with the lip) Which would then give me 8.18" backspacing? But i dont know and that why im posting

Your math is fine... you would end up with approx a 9.18" backspace, which would require major surgery to the suspension, along with mini-tubs. I don't think you want the back of the wheel any closer than you would with the 11" wide GS offset ZR1 wheel - 7.93" . On that basis, you would want a 1.25" wide spacer (bolt on type, not a "sandwich" type).
I'm not sure that people with 335's on an 11" wide wheel aren't doing some serious pounding with a 3# BFH.
Note also that the "lip" is not standardized at 1/2" per side... it can be slightly less, depending on the wheel design.
Now, you have a "frontspace" that results in the wheel protruding only 3.32" from the hub, which is going to look sort of like a pancake when its pushed so far to the outside of the car, and then the 1.25" spacer pushes the wheel to 4.57" from the hub surface, putting the edge of the tire at least 1/2" outside the fender.
Did you review the article on WS6.com where he had his stock WS6 wheels widened from 9" to 11"?
