Using Bogarts On A Daily Driver
I was just wondering if anyone is using Bogarts on a daily driver? I would like to get a set but I don't want to swap them out just when I want to go to the track. I don't have to worry much about bumps and potholes.
Your Opinion? Crazy or Dangerous?
Thanks,
Bill

I've never driven on them, but I've helped mount them on cars and had friends who used them. They are the lightest wheel out there as far as I know and they "feel" like they wouldn't hold up very well for a daily driver. Just by handling them, I don't think they would survive a direct pothole encounter.

I've seen a few 15x4s crack on the street...I run the Bogart welded R/Ts on my car, but I only put 4-5000 miles a year on them...I would not DD with them...Bogart doesn't recommend DD either...Do people do it? Yes...Will they eventually suffer a failure? Probably...

A drag wheel has to be designed for a massive amount of torque at the axle. To keep the wheels light, like the Bogarts, they use that (shear stress) as the primary design case, and pretty much ignore the huge bending stresses thay you would see when a heavy car takes a corner hard, and the wheel sees a large lateral load from the tire sidewall.
