Buying wheels/tires at the end of this month, help out please
Alright i have been posting months before this about getting wheels and tires but i have the money now and winter seems like it is ending early so i will have the camaro back insured and will need some tires badly. Parents wont let me drive my car until i get some tires. I want to try and keep the price no more than $2,000.
I already decided about probley going with the new c6/zo6 corvette wheels. I have been wanting 17" (i have some bad looking wheels on my car right now that are 16" so i definetly want to spend the money to get new ones.). But now i am thinking of going with 18". I really dont know alot about the dimensions and all that with tires but i went to discount tire and told them what i wanted. I didnt really know what tires i wanted i just asked the guy what some good ones would be because i was really just going for a estimate in price. Heres some of the estiamtes i got:
Belle Tire: This was last year when i went here. The guy had some of the 17" c6/zo6 wheels in stock and he showed me them and i was almost going to by them but i did'nt have much money then. Anyways,
17x8 corvette c6 zo6 chrome
p245/45r17
p275/40r17
Riken Raptor
$1,650
Dis**** tire did'nt really give me a price but i remember they were saying that bf goodrich were some good tires. I asked them if i got 18" wheels and tires if they could make the back tires bigger than the front and he looked into it and said he could do it with 17" tires but not 18"?
So im wanting to have more of an idea what i want for when i go buy some. If i go with 18" wheels then what are some good tires? Preferebly summer ones because i dont use my car all year round. Belletire seems to be mentioning the riekn raptors everytime i go in to talk to them. Are those any good? Also if i get 18" wheels/tires what sizes should i have? My car is a 1997 z28 coupe. Iwanna have bigger wheels in the back. With out having my car unbalanced where the back is higher than the front.
Thanks for any help.
Also python has the wheels im looking at.

I know that they are not a sponsor here but have you tried TomZwheels.
He sells the c6 zo6 wheels in package for 629$:
O.E. C6 Z06 Chrome Combo Set 17x9.5 & 18x10.5
And you can have some pretty decent tire for around 600$ too.
Just to let you know

Stay away from Belle Tire based on those recommendations. You do not want to put a 17x8" wheel on your car... it will severely limit the choice of tire sizes, and won't really allow you to gain any tread width. And, I am not aware of any tire manufacturer that would recommend putting a 275/40-17 tire on an 8" wide wheel..... big mistake and could be dangerous.
Discount doesn't seem any sharper. You can do a narrow/wide front/rear combos in 18" wheels, just as easilly as you can do them in 17" wheels. I am assuming you want to run 18" wheels on all 4 corners, not a 17" front/18" rear setup. But the "staggered" front/rear sizing is also feasible, as mentioned in the post above.
You could consider 18x8.5" front, with a 255/40-18; 18x9.5" rear with a 285/35-18
or
18x9.5" front with a 285/35-18; 18x10.5" rear with a 295/35-18
Note that when selecting the wheels, you also have to consider the "offset" of the wheel, or else it may stick outside the fender, or be so deep in the fender well that the tire hits the inner fender liner. See the post in the FAQ for guidelines on wheel width vs. offset recommendations.
When you come up with your choices, ASK HERE FIRST. I wouldn't trust the sources of info you listed so far.
