97-99 c5 wheels on 97 Z
Re: 97-99 c5 wheels on 97 Z
perhaps my rear isn't centered properly, but i have to run spacers on the rear of my 95 Z-28 or they rub ALOT on hard turns...
To combat this, i use spacers... With these spacers, i DO need longer wheel studs, but if I never used the spacers, my stock wheel studs would of been a perfect length.
I've done lots of reading on these, and this is the first time i've heard stock wheel studs not being long enough for the wheels WITHOUT spacers.
Also, I dont' think anyone mentioned, but the center hole in the rear-wheels where the hub would sit, has to be grinded down very slightly in order to fit over the hub.
I've heard not all have to do this, but I did, and if you search on the board, quite a few others did as well.

Yea my back ones had a lot of trouble fitting.. had to grind the centers and pound the wheel wells and they still rub a little. Idk how anyone that got the 18x9.5s to fit on the front did it cuz there was absolutely no way the back wheels on mine were fitting on the front. I got mine straight from a Corvette.

Jeff95Z, the C5 wheels will fit on a 98+ axle without grinding, but will need grinding on a 93-97 axle. That's because the axle on a 93-97 is a little larger in diameter then the 98+.
Re: 97-99 c5 wheels on 97 Z
I heard (and am hoping) that it was late 96 that they changed that hub size. Mines a 97 so I should be ok. I got the rims they look beautiful, just like new. Now I need tires for em.
By the way, what size(thickness) spacers did you use? Would the 1" thick spacer with the lugs attached solve the studd length problem or would that push the wheel out a little too close to the outer fender lip? That would solve the inner fender problem and studd problem if it worked, would also give the car a wider stance.
Thanks for the replys.

It appears to be a late 96 model year swap over on the smaller rear axle hub. But even if you had the larger diameter hub, its a VERY minor amount of sanding/grinding..... absolutely nothing to worry about.
