50 yds? I was thinking it's basically attached.

yea. insurance is the way to go. I have about 10k worth in my garage. All insured... the last 4 digits of the SS# is ideal. a full SSN is a good way to get it swiped and then have some illegal using it to go to work and you end up owing the irs a few thousand dollars (has happened before)

On that note though.. Does your employer require you to use your own tools? if so they would be liable, because it is a foreseen circumstance.

So the gate lock where I work was cut the other night. Nothing was noticed missing. All the customer vehicles were still there.

Today a guy came to pick up his welder that I worked on, which was bolted to a trailer with leads, gasses, etc. He couldnt find it on our back lot. So I walked back there with him, it was gone. Filled out a police report etc.

Good thing we're not responsible for theft, lol.

I guess all the ADT stickers on our glass doors helped. You can see right through our entire shop, tool boxes and all.

Doing a tool inventory sucks, especially when you have alot of stuff to tally. I just finished mine and everytime I buy something I'll write it on a post it note and try to update the inventory every couple weeks.

I had a few things stolen last week. 1/2" Snap On impact with socket, 3/8" Mac air ratchet with socket, and 100% Cornwell die grinder. I was just using them. Had them sitting on my cooler fan. Went to break, came back and they were gone. I have receipts, almost $700.

I think our CFO is gonna cover it. Thank god. Wifey is pregnant and I cant afford to buy this crap again!

Guys in NESA (I know Ahart is a few miles from me) lock your stuff when you walk away. That bastard waited for our break bell and watched the shop clear out. He could have gotten much more if he wanted too...
