Because being a tier one school matters to me, i'm leaving CSU which is a tier 1 research institution for A&M. That's fine if you dont like A&M but you dont have to dog people who go there. Like i said and you agreed A&M is a great engineering school, better than the schools you've listed and Engineering is all i care about. A&M might take everyone but their Engineering school does not. I'm not saying i'm a genius or that i'm really smart but i know i'm above average. I'm guessing with your posts that your a Baylor student...What is your major exactly?

I have many friends at aTm and I'm sorry if I came across as bashing anyone who goes there, but I do find it comedical that everyone at aTm calls themselves a "family" when nobody really gets to know anyone outside of their sad little group, aka the extension of their high school clique

Of course this is just my opinion...

Mechanical engineering and veterinary science, I do give aTm that, but considering how large of an institution it is (50k+) I'd hope they'd be good at something...this can be said for any large institution...

So if you're the intelligent guy that you say you are ("I got into Rice, Baylor, etc") then why did you make the dumb decision to settle on a mediocre school such at Texas aTm?

Where I go to school doesn't matter whatsoever...
your first statement made no sense...I won't even touch it...interesting logic you got there, hmmmm

"dumb decision"? Is that a fact or opinion....sounds like an opinion to me...

in this argument where you went to school is relevant...so where did you go to genius?

the FACT still remains none of the schools you named rank above A&M for what the original poster of this thread is going to school for..

Good job, GENIUS!

Your ranking system is all sorts of screwed up and I'm sure I'm not the first to tell you so...

How about we just drop the childish ranting back and forth and agree that aTm is a decent mediocre school for mediocre people

the only thing that is clear is that you lack any facts just full of opinions...

I am curious to how you have ANY opinion of A&M or any other school when as of now for all we know you didn't go to college

Yeah I suppose I just retained my high school knowledge of how to spell simple words, which is more than what you can say

It's REALLY been fun, but the lady awaits...

Have a good one!

Not that I want to encourage this type of debate, but here's a list of rankings that I found online:

LINK

Summary:

Rice - #16
UT - Austin - #53
A&M - #67
SMU - #73
Baylor - #78
TCU - #99
Texas Tech - NR
U. of Houston - NR

Now of course some colleges will rank higher than others depending on what programs you're talking about, but overall, this sounds about like I would expect.

Given the fact that A&M has basically no fine arts department, and the liberal arts college is nothing to write home about, the ranking seems pretty good. Certainly for engineering, science, and business, I'd put an A&M grad up against anyone from any other schoool in the state. I know A&M's Petroleum Engineering department is always #1 in the country with the others within engineering right up there.

I'm a big Aggie, and would never have wanted to go to school anywhere else. You may indeed be able to get a better education somewhere else, but the experience overall is second to none.

Be proud of your school wherever you go, and work to improve it where you can. Name calling is just childish.

Nice post. I agree i think my money is best spent at A&M for what i want to do It may be different for what you want. I have researched where i'm going and what each place has to offer for my degree and i chose A&M. Have fun wherever you decide to go and make the best of it.

50,000 huh? I never knew we gained 6,000 in one year. Thanks for letting me know. I guess we're bigger than ut and the largest school in the country now. Huh, cool.

Well, I find it comical that you won't tell us where you went (or go, or would like to go), yet all you do is bash A&M. I don't think any school in Texas isn't worth getting an education at, but I do think calling A&M a decent, mediocre school is a stupid, UN-edumacated decision.

There is nothing wrong with Texas Tech. They have a good school and a good athletic program (minus Bobby Knight! ) and I know a LOT of people going there. It's just not a place for me.

Somnambulist is only full of opinions and insults...and honestly regardless of what he says based on his actions so far I am willing to bet a highschool education is as far as he has gone...

everyone on here is saying the same thing over and over but his thick skull doesn't want to absorb it..he only comes back with more ridiculous insults and "assumptions" he has made of a university he has prob never even set foot on.... lol

Tech are the nicest people?? HAHA. Tech has the most classless fans I have ever seen.

Ask any school in the big 12 and see who has the classiest fans, it's between A&M and Nebraska every year.

Now about an education...Tech is an avg school in terms of education. It has nothing that it is spectacular about, nothing that is nationally known. A&M on the otherhand, when you say to someone, wherever you are, that you graduated from A&M, they know it's a great education, ESPECIALLY when you are in the engineering program. And try telling the people who have 3.4 GPAs and get denied in the Mayes business school that everyone gets accepted. Some of you people are so closed minded. I don't have anything against Tech, except the fact that every Raider I've ever come across with in these kinds of debates are jealous A$$ holes, that all they can say is how their football team beats up on ours every year. Well it's about dang time your team has a decent team. Even then, you guys consider a good team one that won 8 games. Wow, 8 games. Even w/ a couple of down years at A&M, 8 games is still a disappointing season. When you guys can grow up and get real arguments, then come back here and talk. Otherwise, keep your childish far fetched comments at a minimum.
