Who has the best Camaro is the South Bend area probably, I mean fastest, most tricked out, etc. Any of you guys know of anyone selling any decent sbc's, I've got the 305 lg4 in right now but Im going to start saving up for a 350/383 or something along those lines.

no Tony, wasnt talking about you. was talking about Greg since i guess he sprayed on Chris last time when they were supposed to be running NA. i know you are always game to run anything. those were definity the best races ive had when you and me went out that night. im still just glad i didnt hurt anything as lean as it got . shouldnt have done that without checking the tune but like you said, it was way too much fun to stop. im still positive your black car has a ton left in it as we both know. those springs and a bigger shot should really wake it up

if you are talking about the 17 and 18" C5 wheels, yeah i still have those

no ET in mind for Jons car, just want to trap 125mph in street trim while being totally reliable and driving as nice like it always has. should be easy. going to look a TON better this year too with the new hood, spoiler, wheels, and lowering

Darren,

I'll be in town this weekend so maybe i'll swing by and talk to you a little more about the rims since I'm thinking about getting them.
Do you happen to have any images of a Camaro with those rims on it. I would like to see how they look on an F-body.

Yep that was a fun close race we had and you really got lucky you didn't hurt anything.

I know your right, springs and a bigger shot would really make it fly.
You think I should just pull the heads or do them in the car? Might be a little hard to set the installed height in the car.

Re: South Bend, Indiana

with dual springs its a PITA doing them in the car just because you have to use a screw type compressor since you dont have room for anything better, and all the screw compressors i have tried dont reach to grip the inner springs very well. still beats pulling the heads to change them though. dont bother trying to get a compressed air hose to the spark plug holes, too much of a pain with our cars. just rotate the motor so the piston is at TDC on each cylinder you are working on. the valve will only drop about 1/4" before the piston stops it. yeah, setting the installed height with the motor in the car kind of sucks too, especially since your spring seat heights were all over the place if i remember correctly from when we did the 10308-1 springs. if you take the plastic part of the cowl off its not too bad. still cant use my good Moroso-style compressor though thanks to the strut towers

If I pull the heads do you think I can bring them over so we can set the installed height?

Re: South Bend, Indiana

cant find any good examples of how they would look on your car, but heres a couple

yeah if you take the heads off you can bring them over and we could knock the springs out pretty fast. be a good time to step up to Ti retainers too to help keep valve float in check, plus they make Ti retainers that offer an extra .050" installed height that you could use in addition to the +.050" retainers we put on there last time to give you more installed hieght. depending on the springs you use, you might need those retainers since you have stock length valves and your spring pockets arent cut. most good springs need .100 longer than stock valves to allow the right installed height

Those rims look really good on it.

I'll give you a call this weekend so we can talk about a few things.

Thanks Darren.

Re: South Bend, Indiana

since they have been laying around for a while and i could use the $, i would be willing to take quite a bit of a loss on them now and sell them for $500 if you decide you want the wheels.

Re: South Bend, Indiana

yossarian, what kind of f body do you have? I have a 92 that is going to be up for sale soon...sadly, it is also a 6... anywho, i saw in an earlier post about you needing body work of some sort, if you are still interested, I could hook you up with a good price... My dad did both of my cars, the 92 and the 98, I have pics of the 92 if you want to see what he can do

Re: South Bend, Indiana

Ya sure that would be great if you could just show me a little bit, send any pics you want to kanzokaine@aol.com. Is this what he does for a living or just a little side job? Can he do good body work also because I have a few areas that need to me worked and filled such as the handles which we shaved, the pillar which the windhshield lies on because we had to fab it, and the wheel wells also. Basically I just want a normal candy apple red paint job with maybe small stripes along the bottom edge of the car that match the gfx.
