I forget what exactly it includes. But its a package on V6 cars, I think if its an auto it gets a 3.42 gear ratio. On the drivers door inside the door jam there will be a list of reproduction numbers if on that list if it says Y87 you have the Y87 package.

Well, I can tell ya what Y87 meant on a Bird...I ordered all my V6s that way for '02...

"Uplevel steering"...T/A ratio? I never did figure this out.
Torsen LSD straight out of a V8 f-bod, with a 3.42 ratio
Dual exhaust outlets

For $355...it was cheap.

Now, I know on Camaros, most years it added the P235/55/16 tires as well...these came on more years of Birds as standard than Maros. Y87 did NOT include the sport appearance package...that was W68. Also, some years of Y87 added rear discs...obviously by '01 or so, rear discs were standard. So the price varied from year to year.

Know that I think about it, I remember reading that the Y87 gets the Z28 steering ratio which is most likely the same as the T/A ratio.

The only real write up I have about Y87 was a "Performance Trends" article Motor Trend did when the '96 RS debuted. The RS was built around the Y87 package, and Motor Trend more or less called the RS "a Z28 minus 2 cylinders."

At that point, Y87 had that "uplevel steering" (I assume you are correct regarding the Z28/TA box), 4 wheel discs, P235/55/16s, dual exhaust, and limited slip. Throughout the years, as more stuff became standard, Y87 got watered down a bit...
