weird problem

every couple of weeks i have to add coolant to the radiator. the problem is when the car cools down it doesen't draw coolant back from the recovery tank. i've replace the radiator cap twice already, i can't see any coolant leaking out and the oil seems to be good and not milky which would indicate a possible head gasket leak. it's a 94, 3.4 camaro with 141,000 miles.
any help would be appreciated
thanks

if you replaced a freeze pllug latly then a good nick or scratch on the sidwall could cause a small leak

Have a look here for the problem of "Disappearing Coolant" issues... I suspect a leaking Lower Intake Manifold is the prime suspect:

Also...the possible loss point of the replaced Freeze or Core Plugs might also be spot on as mentioned earlier...if you did not use a non-hardening sealer on the lip of the plug when doing the install. See my photobucket for details on Dorman Brass Freeze Plugs for more information:

The 3400's are infamous for eating LIM gaskets. It could be leaking into the ports, and not the valley. Does the exhaust smell like coolant?

Check the water pump. Mine was doing the same thing, I couldn't figure out what was happening until I noticed tiny drops of coolant leaking from where the water pump bolts up to the block. It was like a mist, so it wasn't that noticable.

yeah comes from just under the right bank. you will notice a discoloration where coolant is leaking. there is a weak spot in the pump housing. high temp rtv silicone around the pump gasket is a quick fix. i reccommend a new gasket with a light coat of rtv, and just alittle overtorque on the bolts.
