98 3.8 m5 knocking then not knocking?
So the car was knocking (apparently, says the show that looked at it, i wasn't there) so they were told to drive the car untill it died then get a salvaged v6 for 1k or scrap it. Now, 3 months later, I'm telling her it has no sign of knocking or valvespring problems or stuck lifters and she admits it was ticking pretty loudly but stopped after a month of her driving it. The car has 150k.. Can anything with the transmission do this? She said it would clank up to about 3-4k then stop and quiet up a bit, but now i cant hear anything odd. Its not throwing codes. idk
Plus another question, would a set of used 86k mile oem LT1 valvesprings springs be an upgrade from the worn out 150k v6 springs?

that is actually fuel knock. there is a "knock sensor" on the back of the pcm that regulates fuel timing. clean it and re assemble it with electrode grease, or replace it all together. this should take care of it. as far as valve springs, i would say yours are fine the way they are. unless the car has been abused it really shouldnt be an issue until around 200,000 or so.
