Post Swapping out factory for Bilsteins , Need help fast please

Alright, tommorrow i am going to once again rip apart my front end to put in my new springs/struts.. Last time i was unable to remove the old springs off the factory struts so i just bought new struts.. When they arrived today i noticed that they did not come with the "thing" that supports the bottom of the spring, i do not know the term for this piece, and i am new to this whole suspension replacement.. I was wondering if i could that off this "bottom spring supporter" off of my old strut and transfer it to my new ones.. I dont want to take the car all apart again, just to put it back together....thanks for the help and sorry for my lack or terminology..
thanks
jay

Yes, you can just tap off the old "thing" from your current strut and reuse it. You may run into the problem of not being able to get the nut off the top of the strut. I just did mine and they were both rusted on. A reciprocating saw will cure this real quick. Just be careful with the spring compressor.

Thanks for the help.. Ya, i was going to use my factory struts with my new springs until i could get some new struts, but when we tried to get the bolt off of the old one, it was rusted on and snapped, thats why i had to wait a while to get new struts...

That nut on the top of the strut sucks. Took me hours to get it off, cause I didnt want to buy new struts when I replaced springs. I soaked it with some ruster eater, waited tried it, then soaked it somemore...ended up using a ziz wheel and cutting off the nut then tapping the threads... what was GM thinking when they designed that nut... anyways... good luck with the new struts and all.
