swapping a older 350

Has anyone swapped a older 350 with carb. I know sounds weird but some engine's correctly modified can create some nice HP. You computer, tranny, wire harness would not work. There would be alot of work but also cheaper than LT1 if you already have the engine.

Hey Man,
No I haven't done this, but yes the thought has crossed my mind. I think it would be very very nice to do this. I would think that you would have all kinds of problems out of all the lights (SES, and any other light in the dash basically) because you wouldn't have all the wiring...BUT...

The old 350's are much easier to maintain, so I don't think you would have to even worry about all the lights, etc...Just make sure you have headlights, talilights, and 4-ways, and you'd be good to go. Anything that goes wrong on one of those engines is usually an easy fix...

And yes, you are correct, those carb'd engine can pump out some horsies...my truck is putting out right at 390hp, but it has an ungodly amount of torque...

I think it would be awesome to put an old 350 in one of these cars...and since these are such wonderful and cheap engines to work on...you'd have more mods than just about anybody, including ricers, that you could do. I have a couple of spares sitting around too, I just don't have the time to experiment usually, or I could tell you how it was...
