Replace 98 Maf with 99+?

Is it possible to replace a 98 MAF sensor and TB with a 99+? I am having problems with the MAF sensor on mine and I hate that angled TB. I want the striaght forward one like on the 99's on up. Thanks!

I never liked the angled tb on mine either.

At one time I had some extra intakes and tb's sitting around, and I was going to do some fabrication to straighten it out.

Here's the obstacles you'll run into.

1. The '98 intake is angled, not the tb. Changing tb's won't fix the angle. You have to change the intake.

2. If you change to a '99+ intake, the tb bolt patterns are different. So your tb won't bolt up to a straight intake. (unless you make some sort of adapter plate, with rerouting of the iac air passage too, because the '99+ intake doesn't have iac)

3. If you try to use the '99+ tb, it has no throttle cable, it's drive by wire. You'll need a 99+ pcm and wiring harness to control it. Including the sensor that goes under the gas pedal.

If you just want to change over to a '99+ maf, you can do that. But you have to bore out the maf hole to a larger size, and remove the post that runs top to bottom in the center of the '98 tb.
