Questions
I would just like to start off by saying i just got my Dynomax muffler on with the dual exhaust and quad tips, and it not only sounds great to me, but it looks good too. I would recommend it to any V6ers. Also i have a SLP CAI on the way. I have some questions about cams though. I have seen alot of people on here talking about them, but i still dont really understand them. What do they do... do they add alot of performance, how much are they... are they worth the money and where could i find some for a 95 3.4L camaro? Also i was wondering about the torque converters... i dont know much about them either, and i have heard if you get them there is something else you should get to help with it. Also would these items be good for my car or just a waste of money. If anyone has any information on this stuff it would be great.

Hmm,OK first of all check here if you like to read a lot. It'll answer some of your questions.

Now what the cam does is allows the engine intake and exhaust valves to stay open longer.Thereby making more power. That's a simple explanation anyway.Depending on the cam you pick, you can get an easy 15-20 hp on a V6.People usually do the heads at the same time to take advantage of the higher airflow in addition to the open valves. As far as where to get them you can pick them up from Jegs or Summit or anywhere that sells comp cams. They usually run about $150 but then you have to pay for all the springs and seals and other things.Another thing you want to do with a cam swap is roller-tip rockers with a higher ratio than stock. These things help with friction loss and also have to do with higher revs.
On to torque converters. If you have an auto transmission it "locks up" the rear in step with the engine RPM's if it is a "lock-up" type converter. It is called a "stall converter" because it raises the engine RPM that the tranny engages at.For example, stock the tranny lets the car move at say 1,800 RPM's.With a different stall, say a ST3000,the tranny will engage at 2,800-3,200 RPM's.TC's usualy drop 1/4 mile times .3-.5's.So,yeah,I'd say the $750 was worth it
That's about the best I can do.I'm no expert but I don't think I'm too far off on the basic expanations.Good luck.
