Question on distributer

Ok, first off...im back, been busy for a lil bit. Anyways I finally got around to my Camaro, I got a new fuel filter installed in the car, and it seemed like it helped a tad bit, so I decided to change the plugs and wires. All the wires were fryed, all the plugs were burnt. It ran a whole lot better but I was still sputtering, so now im thinking dist and rotor, everything looked like it was oem stock factory...the plugs had rounded ends. So how hard is it replace a rotor and cap on a 87 Camaro 2.8 V6. Should I buy the preformance one *$20* or the oem *$15*

You can do what I should have done.
I got a crudy stock cap and rotor, what I shoud have done was got a MSD 4.3L cap form summitracing.com , they do work, a guy over on fbodies.org did it on his 2.8L. And I had just bought my cheap one.
