hehe
A) I have been on this board since it nearly first started...i lost(auto-deleted) my first account after I went on a vacation and did'nt post for awhile.
(I do have experience)

B) I have had flows (80 series) on my 2002 3.8 for over 10 months now. I say having flows on a regular setup is just alright.
JUST alright sucks if you have a v6.
I want better quality exhaust setups because I am constantly around faster, better cars(v8). If you can listen and hear a ****ing LT1 engine coming down the street you know your ****. Expecially if you can immediately hear whether that LT1 is in a camaro or a firebird, etc. Can you all tell the difference between a trucks exhaust and an LT4? I grew up with this stuff...
I'm just saying theres a HUGE exhaust difference in my 3.8L flows (80) and any v8 engine (say an LS1). That difference makes me say regular flows on a v6 suck... We need to push to make our exhausts sound better on v6s.

And yes, it gets very raspy in neutral and chainsawy when floored in drive. (I'm sorry you all can't hear the difference - listen to some v8s sometime then listen to yours)

I want to hear comments!
P.S. I'd put money on my car racing you(zomie, and casper)...but that does'nt matter, its not even the issue.

jonathan_abilene,

It's already been said many times on this board that a V-6 cannot sound like a V-8. That's not our goal. If you really want that then logic would state to go buy a V-8. And I've been around LT-1's and big truck V-8's all my life too (hell,I live in Texas) and any car lover can hear the differences. What the posters and lurkers of the board are all looking for is just a better sounding V-6 without "breaking the bank". And again, I will say that with the better breathing intake and the flowmaster with tips (check the sig), the 3.8 puts out a nice deep rumble and is not too raspy or chainsawy in the high end RPMS that you think your in a "rice ride". If yours sounded that way I would get that fixed. So that banter that you went on was pointless. We're not talking about LT-1's and trucks, etc. We all know what we have.
And as for that last comment - I don't know what you drive, but I advise you stay in Abilene with the small timers unless you have a Supercharger/Turbo or a V-8. Because I know what my 3.8 can do, and I have non of those high-end mods.

I would recommend a Flowmaster 80 Series. My friend is very happy with this muffler on a 2002 3.8L. He later installed a 2.5" cut-out and claims it is as loud as my 97 Z28 with a cut-out and flowmaster AT but he is full of sh*t. Still, the cut-out is good for loudness and horsepower gain.

A cutout on a v6 will be louder then any stock exhausted v8.

Why are you guys arguing about all which mufflers? and you are coparing to differnet motors.

THe 3.4L our any 60*v6 sounds COMPLETELY different then the 3.8L. As for my 3.4L, I think it sounds realy mean with no exhaust, it gets ricer above 3500 rpms. I had a have a flowmaster 80s series, sounded a bit ricey, then I got a resonator, sounded alot better.

Boy I dont even feel like gettin into this SERPENTbmf,a little maturity gents. But you did ask about Magnaflow,I have this system on my 3.8.Very rumbley at idle/start-up,pretty mouthy at higher RPMs,all polished nice looking. I decided on this one for performance, straight through design(same with DynoMax). If you ever seen a cross section view of a Flow, they have baffles(that make sound)but slow flow.Dead end areas in the muffler where exhaust is trapped(back pressure heat)not straight through.
But if you decide you like the sound of the flows(I dont) a cut out w/it would give you the straight through performance the muffler lacks.
I'm more concerned w/ performance, not looking for a poser v8 sound. Its not,and if these 6s need anything its performance over sound.

johnathan_abilene,

I'd like to see you bore your motor .030 over. Then you would have major motor issues. The 3.4s are bored/stroked versions of the 2.8 motor, therefore they can't be bored/stroked any more.
3.8s can only be bored SAFELY .020 over.
It's not that hard to tell the difference between LT1's and trucks and LT4's. And wtf are you talking about, LT1's don't sound different in a camaro versus firebird, unless the cars are modified differently. That's the funniest thing i've heard all week.

I'd like to see you hang with my car also. Bring your **** down to college station and we'll see who pays up.

And PLEASE stop calling them "flows", there is ONE muffler, not two. You sound like such ricers when you say "flows".
Just like NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWZ!!!
FlOwZ OwNz JoO!!!

As for the original post, i've had them all on mine, and the only ones i liked were the Spintech muffler, the B&B triflow catback, and the GMMG catback. Right now i'm doing an H pipe through my GMMG catback, we'll see how that turns out.
I've had Blowmaster, Dynocrap, godawful Loudmouth, Triflow, Spintech, stock LS1, and GMMG. GMMG is by far the best, but also the most expensive at $700 shipped.

Ok, Ok, Ok!!! Lets calm the F$$K down. were talking about mufflers here people!!! One, there is a difference between the sound from a V6 and the sound from a V8 and your mods and what you've done it the motor make a hell of a difference. Second, I think that what we all want is a deep (as deep as a six can get) hollow, flowmaster type sound. But lets not push it, a six will only sound but so good. I have a "straight pipe" exhaust on my Iroc, 305 4barrel ( no muffler, gutted cat) and it sounds like a regular Z-28 w/ a muffler only louder. Now for my 2000 V6 I want it to sound nice, not ricey, so I'm picking through all of your suggestions to see what wil sound best (I'm thinkin stock SS muffler) but if it's not what I want I wont be mad for two reasons. It's a six-cyl. and if you want your car to sound like a hot-rod then put a hotrod motor in it (LS1,LT1,Vortek,383,ZZ4 etc...). Lets stop bitchin bout petty **** and help each other out, DAMN!!!!!!As far as the racing, CamaroZ28.com needs to have a car show or sumthin so we can see who runnin and who aint!!!

Exclamation

I have been watching this for the past couple of days.....it over with....!

Aruging among ourselves over a muffler is like arguing over spilled milk.

State your piece.....listen....respond. The foul lanugage has NO place here.

Out comes the muffler welder....
