Post Lights above door handles

I know on firebirds, not sure about camaro's. There's those little red lights that put a soft light on the power window and lock controls on the driver and passenger side. Can I replace that with a hyper blue LED? Will that fry the bulb? Do I have to put a resitor on it?? If anyone knows or if anyone has swapped out that light...pls let me know

oddly enough I infact installed hyper blue LED's into mine, you will have to wire in a 486 ohm resister into it, the results arent what you would think, the light dosent glare directly down, there is fiberoptics that aim the light down, you will see a blue dot and nothing more. but at least its a blue dot! =)

Hmm...so there's no kind of light I can buy to give off the same kind of effect as the stock one, but in blue and a bit brighter??
