Idling Problem

I start my car, sometimes it won't idle. The RPMs just fall and the car quits. I wait a few minutes and it works just fine. What's going on here?

I am sure there could be multiple causes to this problem, if I can shed some light on to this in any way, I will.

Re: Idling Problem

I've recently had idling problems with my Camaro as well, only it was at the other end of the spectrum (idle would go up in the 3k range, and then go back to normal after a while, and back again). The problem in my case was the IACV valve, which is the idle air control valve. Mine went bad, and had to replace it. Cost me $30 at the local parts store, and took 5 minutes to change.

Might be a place to start looking.

Re: Idling Problem

Fixed the problem today, it was a dirty MAF sensor. Thank God, it only seemed to do it at the worst possible time, too.
