fuel pump/wiring problem
fuel pump/wiring problem
Here's the the problem... A couple of weeks ago my car refused to start. It wasn't the ignition system, we were able to spray some starting fluid in it and it would run on that alone. The car would start one day and not the next. My fuel pump had been pretty noisy in the past so I decided that was most likely the culprit. (I had also run out of gas a week before and knew that could harm it). I went through the hatch and replaced the pump. This didn't fix the problem though (It just cost me $200 instead). I also replaced the battery.
Today I drove it about 20 miles in the city and jumped back in to start it and it acted like it wasn't getting any fuel. Actually at first it would start and quit until it exhausted the fuel that was still in the lines. I swapped the fuel pump relay with another I had and that didn't fix the problem. I tried connecting a jumper to the fuel pump prime and didn't get a sound or anything. Now that I think about it I can't remember hearing the pump prime too many times before. Since this is an intermittent problem I think it might have to do with the pcm, or maybe a corroded ground somewhere. I also cannot communicate with the pcm through the datalink. But I never have been able to. Anyway, I'm appealing to the guys on the board, please help me diagnose this problem.
sorry about the long post
