I speak from personal experience with BOTH the B&B and Borla exhaust systems. While I like both systems, I don't like the exhaust sound above 3k. In fact, I don't like the sound above 3k on ANY exhaust on the 3.8L. Though you do bring up a valid point: B&B and Borla do sound better throughout the RPMs than the less expensive systems.

And if you re-read my post, I never mentioned raspiness. I simply said that above 3k, the exhaust note changes in an undesirable way. Down low the exhaust sounds more V8ish and the higher the RPMs go, the more it sounds less like a V8 and more towards the tin can sound.

I've got a 1997 3800 Camaro with the magnaflow catback exhaust on it and it has a low mean growl straight through the RPM range. I don't get any whine or raspy sound above 3 grand either. I've even had old chevy enthusiasts mistake it for a V8 on exhaust note alone. I would definitely recommend the magnaflow system.

Yea Magnaflows do sound f'in awesome on our cars, but they ARE about $270 more than the Flowmaster American Thunder.

How much would it cost for someone to install a new exuast cat back system like American Thunder or Magnaflow???
