Re: dual exhaust on v6
'dual' exhaust is different from what everyone gets on here. 'dual' means two pipes, from the headers back. we get 'catback' systems, which means from the catilytic converter back, you get new exhaust. Flowmaster is popular, but i think it sounds bad. Just my opinion, some people like it. Magnaflow is popular also, and i think a much better choice. Borla and B&B Triflo are the two top brands for performance, and in my opinion, sound, but most have a hard time shelling out that kind of cash for exhaust on a V6.
Re: dual exhaust on v6
well, this system i was looking at is a cat-back, but it also says it has dual exits.. whcih i took to mean dual exhaust... here take a look http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...3&autoview=sku
Re: dual exhaust on v6
The best thing to get for your car would be any stock-routing cat-back. Most people get one with dual exits (different from true dual exhaust) just because it looks better than having just one tip.

Re: dual exhaust on v6
If you done some research here, you'll know that ANY exhaust you put on a V6 will sound less than desirable above 3K RPMs. It is just the nature of our engines...a little rumble down low and a little ricey up top.
As for the "dual" exhaust part, you'll need a muffler with two outlets. True dual exhaust would be like my girlfriend's Mustang: two mufflers connected by individual pipes. That MFer is LOUD.

Re: dual exhaust on v6
I have the Flowmaster Cat back and am very happy with it. I take mine to red line to about 90mph almost once a month or so and mine doesnt sound "ricey." I love the tone from idle to about 2k. Really deep, and if the hatch is open, has a nice bass tone you can feel.
Re: dual exhaust on v6
When I had a 97 v6 Camaro, I added a Flowmaster catback exhaust. After about a week I put the factory exhaust back on. You just can't get a 3.8v6 to sound good.... unless you add a turbo or sc.
Re: dual exhaust on v6
I have Flowmaster on my 95 and I like the sound of it. It is a little loud but its fun. The only problem I have is I can be heard from a little up the road from my house. It got me in trouble the first day I had it!

i beg to differ. a stock headers/cat car with the borla catback doesnt sound raspy at all on a V6. same with a stock headers/cat car with B&B triflo.
My borla sounded excellent until i put the high flow cat on. Then it just got louder and raspy at WOT.

Re: dual exhaust on v6
I had a magnaflow on my 3.8 V6, a few people that didn't know anything about cars complimented me on it. But as expected people with v8's always made fun of me. My opinion..... go with the magnaflow, it won't sound as good as a V8 but you'll get that cool duel exhaust look.

considering i drove it that way, wiht the stock cat, for a year and a half, id be pretty sure if i knew it rasped. I dont like the sound of my car now with the high flow, but stock cat, and my borla, no rasp at all.

yea, you also have a 4.3l v6 tho. I had a 95 s10 with the 4.3l in it, and i had a flowmaster muffler, and it sounded damn good. I would drive the camaro around, and although the camaro was faster, as soon as i started the s10 to take it out i was ALWAYS like "damn, this sounds a lot better for a v6".
Sure as hell sounded like an 8 to me.......
