Driveshaft swap

Ok, I did a search first and nothing really came up. I need to know if the Ds swap(2 piece to a 1 piece) is hard and are there any problems or things I should look for to make the swap easiler.

It bolts right up, no parts needed. You will however not use a bolt (or two) that attached the carrier bearing to the Torque arm for your original 2-piece driveshaft. I've had a 1 piece in my car for about 5,000 + miles now with no problems.

The hardest part is getting to the upper bolt on the torque arm to carrier bearing bracket. The two piece comes out in about 10 minutes, the new one goes into place in about 2 minutes.

Be careful when the two piece comes out, the two sections make it awkward and it's heavy - 25.5 pounds. Enjoy some extra tire spin as the one piece significantley reduces the parasitic loss in your drivetrain. You'll ditch about 9 pounds off the rotating mass going to 1-piece steel, 12 pounds if you use a 1LE aluminum shaft, and near 13 pounds going with an LS1 aluminum driveshaft. They'll all bolt right up, no fitment problems.

Well, it is Friday at 11 and we are done.. We began about 9:30 and finished 1 hour later including a test drive. It was a very easy mod for his 3.8. It seemed to push you back more in the seat as a passenger, but other than that it was not too drastic. We both agree with weight savings alone and the cheap price of it make it a must do on any 2 piece setup.

I bet he gains a 1/10th from it... For some odd reason it also felt more like a sports car to us when we were done....

50 bucks, 1 hour.... Do it ASAP, before a cold air or anything IMO...
