I noticed a little bit of a boost, more noticable, by far, on those random cold nights we have here in augusta. if you want something that makes people take a look at your car, get the CAI and lid. Its pretty fun to floor it and make more noise than the civic next to you. My cat did back up only a few months later though, not sure if its related.
that is re-diculuous, a CAI is just a friggen pipe w/ an elbow and filter. Go get one off of ebay w/ no name brand for 50 bucks and you will see the same gains. I got my CAI off ebay w/ a K&N filter for 100 bucks and it works just as good. God why do people pay this much for a pipe...

Re: Cold Air Intakes

Dunno if youve checked the late model f-bodies lately, but the CAI on those cars is nothing like a tube with a filter on it. I couldve bought an off-brand RAM air for the car, but taking air off the top of the radiator sounds pretty stupid to me (unless i had a ram air hood). Go on ebay and put in 'camaro cold air intake' and see how many off-brands you find for a 1998-up. I do see plenty of pipes for your 93, but were talking about firechickens 98. I couldnt even get the name brands on ebay.

Oh wait, I found one Volant today......
that one is at 150 last I saw if you want to check it out firechicken

I think the small supply (SLP & volant) and the high demand from those who want CAIs make for an expensive set. Thats just silly established, trusted, economics though, easier just to blame Bush.......

For the v8's I know there are tons of b.s no name brand ones that come w/ 2 pipes and a K&N filter which go inside the fender well. I got mine which goes inside the fender well for 100 bucks. Dont buy those stupid 300-400 dollar ones, you get like a 2-3 hp gain over the ebay one who the **** cares?

Re: Cold Air Intakes

To each his own I guess. I wouldve loved to have a greater choice of intakes like I do for my 91 crx (so cheap and available they re about 15$ a piece!) but unfortunately the 98-up 3.8's still arent getting quite the support that im sure a lot of us feel they deserve. Good luck chicken, I know even though i spent almost 200 for mine, that im very happy with it and my noisemaker lid. I mean whisper lid.
