would an ls3 fit in this car? I was looking into buying a ls1, having it rebuilt, adding a supercharger, then dropping it in.

also how much would a shop charge to install the engine w/ tunning?

I'm sure you wouldn't have enough money for a supercharged LS motor. Biggest problem with the 3.4 is breathing. They should've used the aluminum heads like the front wheel drive 3400's. The intake is downright horrible on the f body 3.4 compared to the whole top end of the front drive 3400. That's why the 3400 in most vehicles is rated at 195-205hp. The engine can breathe. It's not a super easy swap to switch to the alum. heads/intake but people have done it. You also need to swap out the pistons to go along with the heads. The difference in combustion chamber size is why. There are threads on fullthrottlev6.com on this.

Well after thinking it all through here is what I've decided to do. I'm going to a self serve salvage yard and buying a 3.4 from a 2000 grand am GT. Its exactly the same as my engine, but FWD, and has better "breathing" ability. Its only $250 for the engine, and will be alot cheaper than replacing it with an expensive engine.

Before you complain, its actually cheaper to buy the whole engine block with the heads, intake, and headers, than to buy all three separately. After that I just need to move everything from my Camaro engine to the Grand AM engine.

The 3.4 and the FWD 3400 are not the same. For one the starter on the 3400 will be on the driver side in the camaro. I don't know if there is space to drill and tap for a starter on the other side of the 3400 block. In the FWD that is where the trans-axle would be. The front accessories will not bolt up the same on a 3400 as they will on a 3.4. Is the bell-housing bolt pattern on the 3.4 the same as a 3400? I don't know. I have done motor swaps before. Make sure you do your home work before getting in over your head, it gets deep fast if you don't know what your doing or have someone to go to for help.

This was something I was disusing with my father. It was his idea to pull the entire motor instead of just buying them part by part. For one I noticed that the intake manifold, one of the needed parts for my 3.4L is positioned differently. I hadn't thought about the starter o put any real thought into the accessories. I may buy the whole engine, strip the parts I need and return the block as core. It's kinda stupid that the intake, headers, and heads sold alone a more expensive than buying them all together with the block. As far as I know, once I replace those three items all I will have left is replacing the fuel injectors.

Any recommendations for forged pistons? I want something thats decent but wont break the bank.

Thanks for the advice!

For a full write up on what's called the "Aluminum head top swap" go here. This should answer all your questions. http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums...nfo-(with-pics)

Re: Add a turbo to a stock 95 3.4L

Oh god I can hear you know, but I've decided on what I'm going to do. Since I started this threat I've done on average of 2-4 hours a night reading posts of successes, failures and opinions, so I'm pretty sure I know what route I want to go. Yes I know my car will never be the fastest out there and that It will never be top of the line, I've decided to do the Aluminum heads and intake, as well as a vortech y trim supercharger. I know it would be alot cheaper to just sell my v6 and buy a v8, but this is my Camaro, not anyone elses and I'm curious to see how far I can push it.

If you really want to do something, why not just spend about $400 towards a NOS 50 shot system and be done???? Biggest bang for the buck, super easy to install.

Re: Add a turbo to a stock 95 3.4L

So here I am now searching the web for mods to my 3.4 camaro. Does anyone know if this person went through with the mods on their camaro? I'd like to add a little bit of HP gain with my little 3.4. No I wont sell it for a v8. I'm saving for one already I'd like my camaro to be my quick daily diver I can drive here in the Midwest.
