Angry Add a turbo to a stock 95 3.4L

Background (skip if you don't care)

I live in a wealthy town, all the teenagers here had there mommy's and daddy's buy them new mustangs, I see on average about 5-10 a day. None of them know the value of a dollar or anything about cars. I can't stand it. I finally sold my first car (1992 buick) and used the money to buy a 95 3.4L M5 Camaro. Thing is that I have a bit of trouble speed wise when racing. I really want to drop some money into this car and gain an edge on the newer stock mustangs.

First question.
If I built a turbo for my car, what else would I need to replace, such as high pressure pistons, drive shaft or axil. what problems would arise if I added a turbo.

Second question.
Other than a turbo what could I do to add some HP, I'm still unsure if they make performance chips for the 95 3.4. I'm thinking of boring out the engine a little bit.

It bugs me to see rich *** kids with their parents cars thinking they know what a real muscle car is, especially when theirs is faster.

Obviously I don't think I will ever be able to beat the 2009/2010 with my engine. I just don't want to be completely smoked.

Thanks.

It would most likely cost you less to sell your Camaro and buy another one with an LT1, or better yet, an LS1 (six grand will get you one with fairly high miles). Both will easily beat any Mustang GT up to 2010, and an LS1 is almost as fast as a 2011 GT with the new 5.0L Coyote motor. With mods, both the LT1 and LS1 are capable of destroying a stock 2011 GT.

I've been looking around, as for top speed, I probably will never make it over 110. I may just rebuild the rear end and transmission with better acceleration ratio and a low overdrive. thinking of just replacing the first 3, then have the last two for highway.

also, anything on adding a turbo?

http://www.gmtuners.com can work with you on chips NA or turbo. I know he has done 3.4 turbos but in fieros. If you can weld or have a good friend that can, it can be done. The question is should you spend the money to be on the edge of what the 3.4 can hold, or add what it will cost to go turbo to what you could sell the car for and get a V8.

Chips are a waste of time, dont waste your money. They really dont increase your performance too much and your gas mileage goes down the tubes. Your best bet is to save up for a V8 and sell the V6

I find it hard to believe you hung with a 2010 mustang with the new 5.0, those things are pretty bad.
As for the original post, sell the v6, buy a lt1 or ls1 which ever you want, the lt1 will be cheaper, but your wastin your time with the 6 banger

He didn't say it was a GT.

IIRC, A 2010 Mustang V6 has a 210hp 4.0L V6, and is heavier than a 4th gen. I believe that a '97 V6 Camaro could beat one.

I'm thinking of dropping the engine and putting a ls1 in it. I would really enjoy the whole building my car part

ya, i didnt say gt. and it depend on how long the race is, because i have a 4 speed auto(stock) and so i dont have that possible 5th or 6th gear.

and if it were me, and i had the money to do a v6 to ls1 swap i would to... but im only 16, plus my parents wont let me. haha

With the cost involved in doing a swap like that you would be better off just buying a ls1 car, its a lot of work and you prolly wont come out any better than you woulda by just buying one

then you have to deal with it being completely illegal.

Sell the v6 car, buy a v8 car. Anything else will be a waste of time and money.

You can listen to experience or learn the hard way.
