Thumbs down

Damn, you are one helluva troll!! If you are so superior, then go challenge people in the LT1 and LS1 forum. Or do you need a bigger ego boost by dissing V6es?

Get the Loudmouth and the SLP CAI. And you'll notice a pretty decent gain. That GP price of 160 for the CAI is about the best you'll find for a new one. You can get the Loundmouth here:

Geez... I never intended a flame war. Some of you guys are just a little too uptight.

But seriously, other than a catback and CAI, what's available? Roller rockers, cams, better intake setups, TB's? CAI and a catback won't do much. Headers other than RKSport? I might even chip in on the mods if they prove worthwhile.

I would like to see her car in the mid 15's if possible. With a CAI, roller rockers, larger TB, headers, hi-flow cat and a cat-back are mid-low 15's possible with an auto 3.4?

You should definetly be in the 15's with those mods , but try and get yourself some 3.42 gears and LSD , because all those mods dont really help until you get 3.42's. You will actually be loosing low end torque if you just put those mods with no gears. It happend to me , because I had headers , exhaust , and CAI , installed and my car only feels faster on top end , the mechanic told me that if I wanna really feel the power from those mods was to get some 3.42 gears and LSD

I thought she only had $500 to work with? You wont get any farther than intake and exhaust with that. Other recommended mods are:

-3.42 gears
-LSD
-1 piece driveshaft (LS1 or 1LE are good aluminum ones but the LT1 steel is much cheaper, just make sure it's balanced.)
-Pacesetter Headers (I don't know if they're still available, try www.jcwhitney.com )
-Hi-flow cat
-bigger I and Y-pipes
-LT1 TB can be made to fit the intake w/ some fabrication...ask Tiago)
-Trans-go shift kit
-Stall converter

Those bolt-on mods should get you low 15's no problem.

$500 goes a LONG way. I never pay full price for new parts - IF I buy new. Built my car for a total outlay of less than $10K. And that's three different wheel/tire combos and two different exhaust setups. And because I'm an ASE and Ford certified technician with access to the dealer shop I work at, labor is free Besides, if the first few mods are successful, I'll chip in. It would be worth the money to see the look on my coworkers face when his 96 Mustang GT auto gets stomped by a 3.4 FBod

I thought the V6's came with decent gears. Maybe there's a difference between the autos and manuals? I've already located a 3.42 rear out of a 95 6 speed with 45K miles for $200 with brakes. I was going to put it in my car but I probably just going to save up for a 12 bolt. Other than speedo calibrations that need to be made, what about the ABS. ABS calibrations should be the same for both the drum and disc rear correct?

The car already has a single piece steel DS. I thought that was unusual...

Ryan94V6 - that loss of low end torque might be due to the fact that your headers are 1 3/4" primaries - too big IMO for a 3.4 That's one reason why I don't want the RKSports.

No , actually im pretty sure they fit right , but just need a few adjustments. Can someone just explain to him why I have lost some low end torque , its becuase of the compression.

Fitment has nothing to do with it. The tubes are too large - killing exhaust velocity and low end torque. You shouldn't need 1 3/4" primaries till around 400HP+ Low compression wouldn't hurt low end power ONLY once the exhaust is modified. So you wouldn't lose it, it's was never there. The reason your lost low end torque is because you "traded" it for higher RPM HP.

Yes, the 3.42s and LSD will take away that sluggish off the line feeling. BTW, once you're done with that, take it to the track. Maybe you can de-thrown Eric (MustangEater82)

Loss of low end torque on a 3.4L.

not sure about you guys, but my car has more torque then it knows what to do with(compared to its own HP)

I doubt the headers will hurt the toruqe too much, no more then me runing a no I-pip and muffler, jsut a $15 high flow muffler.

Off the line response? how is you fuel system? clean and running fine? Igniton sytems doing good, sounds like some other tuning issue over jsut needing gears. All 3.4Ls have 3.23s, which are not that bad off the line.

As for beating me out... I am sure you guys will do it soon, the mods that are left for me to do are not cheap ones, and my transmission is needing attetnion along with some brake upgrades, and maybe some Kuhmos on an extra set of rims for autoxing.

Well , my headers are fixed now so my car sounds alittle better and is alot faster now , and it feels alot faster in top in also. Everything in my car is fine , I just had a tuneup done to it . My next mod soon will be 3.42's and LSD , and by December and January I should have a stage 2 jet chip , maybe an intake manifold , or if I could find a torque converter for cheap then ill get that to.
