My opinion would be to sell that slow 4th gen and buy a nice 3rd gen - like mine

And what do you mean no labor costs? You can't do the work yourself.

thats a nice 3rd gen but don't discard all 3.4s

Cool

HAHA Marc, real funny! I'm being serious though about fixing up my car. When YOU buy me a car like yours then you can talk, until then I can only work with what I have. And its still a nice car! Just wait til Rick lets me drive his dads 71 stingray corvette, I'll smoke your a$$. Then you wont be so quick to talk. Your car may be nice and fast, but its not the fastest car out there!

ImportKILLER - a bit more than what you've got. This is the most reliable car known to man. Not impressive stock - but it's got 10 times the potential of a 3.4

Haven't dicarded her 3.4 yet. I'm just waiting to install some mods and see how it runs then... Is RKSport the only place that sells headers for these engines? I could make some for cheaper than what they want.

That Stingray is gonna get embarassed. I've got DRs now so he'll get hurt from the start. I'll probably even have the new heads and cam by then. BRING IT ON!! And with you driving... Stock non LS1 Vettes aren't much trouble, just ask that LT1 from the other night. 2 carlengths at 20 and another 1-2 by 90.

Most reliable car known to man...is that a proven fact or just a popular opinion?

BTW...I have to update my signature. I added my nitrous kit yesterday.

Hahahaha,I hope you're joking! You are actually a little SLOWER stock than most 3.4's on the board.I saw a 1986 Z run a whopping 11.2 1/8 mile at Cooper River dragway. And realiable? One of the most reliable motors GM or anyone has ever produced would have to be the 2.8 V6.That's what the 3.4 is based off of by the way Anyway, your car might be a little fast now,but look how much you've done to it.Same goes for the 3.4,there are quite a few running low 14's and I can't wait to see what Tiago runs! You have any numbers? And how much did that tranny help you out?I need to hook some 3rd gens up around here, they're embarassingly slow and none of us 4th gens know how to help mod them!

PS
I think the stock SS cat-back sounds awesome on the 3.4.Definately much better than stock.Good luck with that awesome ride!

ImportKILLER - owned 5 1/2 years. NEVER broke down - starts every time - NEVER any problem where I couldn't drive or start the car. A few minor probs, but just minor stuff. Car was still drivable. That's a 18 year old car... Much unlike my sister's 94 V6 Firebird.

I ran a 13.8@99 before the trans, convertor, and larger headers. Guess what I run now? That's with a 9.0:1 355 with stock 76cc smogger heads and a small 4x4 cam. I've got a Perfomer RPM intake with a Comp XE 274 waiting to go in once I can afford my AFR 195s. My complete car with mods still cost half as much as your car, so... A lot of Thirdgens are slow I'll agree, but your looking at 155HP carbed 305s or 170HP TBI 305's - NOT performance engines. Watch a good tune 305 5 speed or 350 and then compare.

Older GM FI motors are notorious for fuel pumps going bad - right in the middle of the highway. Old FI is NOT reliable. Maybe the new stuff, but certainly not the 2.8

Besides, I'm here to pick on my sister, not you guys - settle down.

That's a good run for your car.Is that the stock motor or a drop-in?Yes,I know the difference between a 350 and a 305,I'm not that 3rd gen illiterate! The cars running high 10's and 11's were 350's.Spread the love man,we can't help it if no one makes performance parts for 3.4's!Oh yeah, FYI, 2.8s normally get at least 200,000 miles on them if they're taken care of.Look at older Chevy Celebrities and S-10 trucks. My '95 has 100k on it now and the ex drives it daily. The only problems I ever had was a bad alt and a blown head gasket from my 150hp shot of nitrous.I used a 100hp shot for about 2 years with no major issues other than different plugs.

yea -- not to flame or anything -- but what you don't realize is that the 3.4L guys/gals stick together. we're ragged on so much, we figure its best to stay in a group. so if you see people taking offense to what you say about the 3.4 (and i know a few v6's that could take your 350) dont be surprised.

just lettin ya know why everyone is on the defensive.

Nice to see your car run the times it does and has been reliable for you. Not too bad...

Theres a difference between having a dependable and durable car and having the "most reliable car known to man". I doubt if I go onto google and type that in, a 1985 Camaro would pop up. Then again, neither would either of my cars but it is good to see your car runs strong.

BTW, I'm staying out of this post now. If a brother wants to give his sister a hard time, its free game. I caught my sister on my computer on here...I want to be able to bust her when she logs on.

So...

thats you I like you had an 85 camaro, broke down alot, had lots of toruble with the coputer system, connectors going bad, tracing down things with a wire tester light, the 2nd transmission was starting to slip, just before a piston crumbled apart while drivng, basically turning to gravel in my oil pan, putting metal chunks through the motor. that car dies at 120,000 5/10ths

My 94, never stranded me once, and is pusshing 118,350. miles. Alos is faster, and is not addociated with mullets.

I will own a third gen again, I enjoyed it but being reliable? My ***.... Only reliable ones are the ones left in smoke at the track by imports and me.

Hes the one who told me about this web site because i asked him what i can do to my car, and he suggested i come on here. So he was just waiting on the chance to tease me. Cant guys just help a girl out when she wants to fix a car up?? Youd think that you guys would be offering tons of information... and not be bragging about a z28 85 Camaro, which happens to be bragging on a V6 message board MARC!!(or ragging on it either) Go back to your own message board and brag about your car there where it belongs so I can get a little advice here . What do you guys think about a SLP Loudmouth exhaust on a V6...yes or no?
