3400 to 3800 swap?
I'm looking at picking up a 94 Firebird 3400 for dirt cheap, and it only has 30k miles on it. Is there anyway to swap in a 3800 since I can get them for next to nothing also?
TIA?

Thanks for the compliment.
My main concern would be wiring everything up. What would be involved and would it be worth it. I have access to a ton of L67 parts and also a few LT1's, so if the L67 doesn't pan out I can just install a worked LT1(they have a much better sound anyway).

Re: 3400 to 3800 swap?
my mom's chevy venture has a 3400 and it is actually pretty quick for it's weight. i just don't feel safe taking corners very fast.
as for the swap, try searching on this forum and also at www.firebirdv6.com. there's a lot of info out there.
3400's also came in buick centurys, and many W-body's (gran prix, regal, cutlas, lumina...) came with 3.1's.

Just head right to the LT1 or LS1 swap as it will cost about the same as the V6 swap.
Your going to need a K member and tranny anyway, you will also need a fuel pump, rad and fans for the V8 swaps.

In California, '95's got the 3800. In '96, all V6 F-bodies had the 3800.
If you're going to the trouble of an engine swap, put in an LT1.

Re: 3400 to 3800 swap?
i agree with jakerobb you basicly need to replace every thing in the car to support the 3.8 i looked into a swap for my 95 and i figured id need all the same parts minus the rearend to take the 3.8 plus replace some wiring under the dash but if i put a 95 lt1 in i have to replace every thing that i had to replace with the 3.8 and plus the rear but not screw with the under dash wiring just the engine copartment and yes an engine is gona runn you about 1500 used apose to 800. there are 1500 dollar lt1s out there not sure of there shape but for me im buying a cheap one next spring like 1500 or so and haveing it professionaly rebuilt so. you might find cheeper or more expenisve i would just look into an lt1 if your seriouse. i already started collecting the parts im about 1/3 of the way there parts wise
