2.8 to 3.8 S\C swap

I have a 1986 Pontiac Firebird with a locked up 2.8 and I was going to drop a supercharged 3.8 in it. I was wondering how hard would the swap be and what would I need to do it. I have the engine trans and all the mounts to go with them.

Re: 2.8 to 3.8 S\C swap

Do you have a 3.8 S/C motor out of a FWD Grand Prix, Bonneville, or Regal? If so, it isn't going to work. Assuming you are dealing with a FWD drivetrain, it is transverse mounted versus your vehicle which is longitudinal mounted. My thought would be to sell the 3.8 drivetrain and use that money towards a 5.7L TPI or LT1 motor if you are that serious about a swap.

I'd think you'd be a little better off than a 4th Gen transplant, but it's not like you can turn the intake around like you can by swapping a 3400 top end in place....the 3800 intake manifold is NOT symmetrical.
