the rear main seal's tend to go once they get a lot of miles (generally a slow leak)... other than that its a solid motor and the trans should be fine as long as its been flushed semi regularly
and if its throwin a code for the EGR dont worry , a lot of em do that .. its fine , i passed emissions 6 times with my ses light on and the computer claiming that the EGR wasnt working properly

Seems like a decent price...
My 3.4L took ALOT of abuse before I sold it and motor ran strong, guy I sold it too ran a new best in the car, after he replaced the tranny... of course...
my 3.4L was in my family for 10 years, it had 130k when I sold it ran and drove fine, except for drivetrain stuff, but I had a good 350+ drag passes in it, so the drivetrain took some abuse...
IF you want a little play toy, on the side its a good car, people will say "get a 3.8" but personally they sound like ***, they may perform better, but for your performer you have an SS. I say get the 3.4L put a catback on it and have fun.... will have a little bit deeper tone, will fool alot of people that its a v8, but not a car guy.
I had one fo the quicker n/a 3.4Ls I ahve some minor info and my mod list on my cardomain site, which isn't too extensive...
