LT1 doesnt have more torque anywhere...its that there torque curve is shorter

Yes it does. I've compared two dyno runs between a bone stock 6-speed '96 and '98 Z28. The LT1 had more torque and horsepower than the LS1 from idle to about 3500-4000 rpm (I can't remember exactly, I can look it up at work tomarrow and get back to you). Above that rpm, it was all LS1. The difference was pretty small, though. About 10-20 ft/lbs. of torque less from idle to 3800ish.

Hahaha ya I saw that too .. Someone wised up .. I must say though, they get a lot of conversation in 6 pages worth of "Was it an LS1 or LT1?"

My boss at work has a 2002 WRX and i raced him in my 97 T/A. I was stock at the time and I SPANKED his *** all over the road. Although it was from about a 65 mph start. Off the line would have been different though. After I put LTs and such on the car and asked if he wanted to go from a stop, he just laughed and said F that.

If it's stock for stock, or close to, it's going to depend on the drive.

Example: I was at Atco in summer of 02, and wasn't really clued in to the WRX. Well I lined up against one, and off we went. I did'nt see him the whole time, until the end of the track when I noticed he was hiding just off my blind spot! I went 13.4 to his 14.0. Point is, he didn't get me off the line, mostly driver caused. They're quick, but unless it's an STi, or well modded standard, you won't have too bad of a time dispatching one.

They're bad though, aren't they? I sat in an STi at the Philly Auto Show and I like it a lot.

I've never seen anybody run lower than 13.5's on a stock ls1 here either, but I didn't have any trouble clicking off a 13.2 even with a medicore 60'. I talked to a few of the f-bod owners there, half of them were like dumpin the clutch at 4k and just holding in it til it caught traction. It would be easy to make the assumption these guys do. I give them props for not being domestic bashers. Most of them realize their place as not being a straight line king.
What'd freak them out though is the 10 second ported heads/headers/cam setups out there.

Peace,

When I said less than a 13.8, I was meaning slower. All the stock ones I've seen had semi-decent drivers in them.

it seems to me like they have some misinformed ppl on their forum just like we do here. personally, i like the subarus.

however, i did get a chance to race a wrx from a 25 mph roll back in san francisco. he was modded to some extent (exhaust at the very least), but i didn't have much of a problem with him. i also went up against one in a 80 mph roll. that one was pretty ugly for the wrx.

and to our guests on from the wrx board (waves), i dig your car. but remeber, an lt1 or ls1 with a good torque converter and drag radials or, better yet, et streets ain't gonna loose much to you from a dig. my car has some fairly typical mods for an ls1 fbody. with a low 1.8 60ft my car woulda gone a good .4-.5 faster in the 1/4 mile.
