Who would win 1994 3000gt VR4 or 1998 Z28
Even still, that means at my stage there's over 400 torque available around 3k rpm and it's a wide powerband after that. Low end power is not a problem.
Another important factor is I finish the 1/4 near the top of 3rd. On the stock turbos the boost has dropped almost 5 psi. Right after the 1/4 (like a highway run), I would shift to 4th and have a lot more power. This means true top end can be stronger than the trapspeeds at the track may indicate.
I've posted a story here before about a Hurst orange LS1 Firebird on the interstate. It wasn't even close from an 80 run. I stayed in 4th the entire time - just went WOT and started passing, easily having several lengths by 130. I posted here because I wanted to make sure that color was available only on LS1's, and thusly it wasn't a sprayed v6 or LT1. Only visible mod was exhaust, or at least tips anyway.

My cousin's 98 6-speed could hardly pull on our then stock 96 Lt1 6-speed.

Just for the record to the guy in the z28...get a good launch and then waste the VR4. I raced one when all I had was a lid and cutout...off the line, even...he launched well too, but on the street, so do I. by the time 2nd gear was done, I had 1 car on him and by the time 3rd..it was just ugly. Just make sure you have a good launch and then rip him a new one above 50mph.
96ZRDR what are you smoking? Why are you player hate'n
on the LS1? Your cousin either couldn't drive or you have a 'freakish' LT1 and he has a pathetic LS1.Before the blower/LTs/ORP/etc...my car had a lid and cutout and I beat MULTIPLE 01/02 cars with the same/simular mods...to me, sounds like someone needs to learn how to drive....then again, I did have a 'freakish' 98
You could beat him from a stop to. He might get you off the line if he launches right, but u would catch him. Most people whos cars have AWD know not to race from rolls and strickly go from stops, They act like that around here anyway. WHich is cool, becaus i prefer to go from a stop to.
And if its against a AWD car, i be on slicks.
And whoever said earlier LS1s are slower then the newer ones. Its not like the 1998s run 13s and the 2002s run low 12s stock.
If you went to an Fbody shootout and watched alot of near stock (noones 100% stock) cars run, youll see 1998s and 2002s turn times within the same ball park. The 2000+s did have some advantages, LS6 instake, different cam, and less emissions crap. But gains are next to nothing on stock cars. I removed my emissions and nothing happend to my car at all. If i installed an L S6 instake, it would be a waste of money and time, and the same with the 2000+ cam.
LS1 is an LS1, if i was doing a motor swap in a car i would use an LS1 fo sho, but i wouldnt care if it came from a 1997 or 2003.

My good friend had a 94 N/A 3000gt and now has a 94 vr4. I would give the N/A 4 car leads and still pull him hard down low up top he maybe gained back a half a car or so. Then when he got his vr4 we only ran twice first time i got pulled by a car maybe 2 till 60 then started to pull him in pretty good maybe lke 2 cars buy 90-100. second time i walked all over it becasue the damn pile of a tranny took a ****. Awsome cars though istill miss how the N/A v6 soundedat W.O.T. Also when we raced i was stock except for a cut-out.
