I saw that issue a few years ago.
Did anybody notice that the SS in the picture appears to have a different set of wheels on the back? They appear to be old-style SS/ZR1 wheels, they definitely are not the same as the fronts, as the finish is different.
I'd bet that car was on a DR, especially since it went 12.9 on only 107mph.

I was at a party about 3 months ago and had a kid with a newr ford ranger with a 4 banger telling me his little fake truck would destroy my z...and he was totally serious. We were both a bit under the influence so I assume that may have had something to do with his absurd claim.

Facts are facts. Who cares what company you like more. A fox body 5.0 will beat a TPI Z anyday stock for stock, and just the same an LT1 or LS1 will beat any 4.6-5.0 gt, and most n/a cobra's stock for stck anyday. The fact remains though that blown cobras are still beating the pants off of Z06's and cost 20k less

 

I own a blown Cobra (2004). It's a fast car, but in stock trim, the Z06 is significantly quicker.

 

Same driver, same conditions...I agree.
But don't tell that to the '03 Z06 owner on Monday that couldn't get past my bumper until I let off in 3rd gear from a dead stop at a light.
I contend that the difference is small enough that a well driven '03/'04 will fend off a moderately or poorly driven Z06.

Yeah, you reach a point where, unless you have other mitigating factors such as AWD or a killer traction control (Mercedes), any two cars within a few ticks of each other boil down to driver. If you're talking 15-16 second cars, they're so slow that I don't think the driver matters much.

Is it possible to screw up the launch on a 16 second car so that it runs a 17?
