Two kills.
Thursday night:
I was comming home with after picking up a friend, so we are rolling 2 deep. im on mill plain and i see this blue celica,a nd i remember this kid from the starbucks out on mill plain, hes a real jackass and thinks his car is this ****.
Anyways, so im driving minding my own business, and i look over at this guy, and i just hit it, and i see him down shift, and start falling back behind me REAL bad. SO i shut it down around 70 or 80 i have no idea, I only have 3 gears so i bring it back down to 40 and he flys past me like he is trying to prove something, and we come up to a red light, he was already sitting there, and i come up stop, get the brake down and the RPM'S up, and this son of a bitch jumps the light, His tail lights get to about my grille, i look up and it turns green and i hit it. This kid didn't have a chance and two seconds later i was in front, got up to about 90, and cut him off, cause i needed to be in that lane anyways.
Today:
So im on the freeway and i see this evo 8 in the slow lane and im in the middle lane, and come up next to him im doing 60 and i look over at him and he looks back and he hits it, im not sure if he shifted down or not, but once i saw him go for it i hit the gas. No you have to remember im in 3rd gear and around 4000rpm's maybe 5000 i dont know its an auto. But it was dead even and i started to pull on him he ended up at my taillights and then he gave up, i got it up to about 95 and shut it down due to traffic.
This makes me feel a little better about how much HP my car is pushing, the evo 8's aren't something to take lightly, the celica however, take those very lightly, unless they have huge turbos, or lots of NOS.

The T56, IMO, is one of the best gearboxes ever made. 6 speeds and it can still handle lots of torque. If you do a lot of driving on the street it's great, you can run 4.10s and still cruise at 70 mph at 2k rpm. Maybe I'm biased because I did the swap but I love the gearing and I love the double overdrive.
Obviously if you run the strip a lot or just do stoplight to stoplight on the weekends then the auto would be better, but if that's the case I would stick with the 3 speeds or spend the dough to get a 4 speed done right. The 700R4s/4L60s etc only seem able to put up with so much before they give up.
