well, cruising on highway, mach 1 yanks next to me, sounded stock but
who knows!!!! we go from 70 or so, im in 4th at 3600 or so, he pulls about 3-4 mph at first, when i hammer it, we are pulling at the same rate, so he is creeping on me, all the way to 105 or so, go to switch and nothing,I MISS FIFTH!!!!!! so he just blasts away... im so pissed at myself, would have really liked to have seen the results. i lost to a mustang. im depressed. well, at least it was a mach 1 huh!!!

Were you shifting at redline?
That said, a Mach 1 is what the GT should have been when the blown Cobra came out in 03. Screw the 2 valvers... the 4.6 needs more flow than the sohc design can give IMO.

was shifting at around 5500 or so, not really sure of the mph, only looked at it when i missed fifth and tried to get it, it said 105 or so when i finally looked at it. was just an "round about mph". im really hurt over here

Unless you have different rear gears, your RPM's aren't even close to where they should be in the gears you mentioned.
Stock, 3rd gear runs out at about 96 mph and 4th doesn't run out until 124 mph.

Your story sounds about right. Driven well, a MACH1 will trap 103-104 mph. I would guess that you might trap 102 with the mods that you have.
If you have 3:73 or 4:10 rear gears, they can hurt you slightly from a roll at those speeds anyways.
If I were you, I would get headers before a new catback. Flowmaster is not the best catback, but it still flows.

Think he would of had you either way...Camaros might as well get use to loosin to mustang seeing that the camaro program has halted and the stang one is still going strong...even the 05 GTs times arent so far off LS1 times w/ the right driver...the 06 Cobra should be the nail in the coffin for sure if the 03/04 hasnt done that already

The fastest '05 gt so far has ran what? a 13.5 at around 103(fastest confirmed I've heard). I've heard of LT1 firehawks running that, I wont even get into LS1's. Besided how often do you see fast 94-04 GT's around? not very often, especially the later years. As far as '03-04 Cobras for every decently modded one I see, I see about 20 LS1's. Thats what happens when you offer your top motor in every V8 model, vs the top model, and sell it at a base price of almost $15k less(base Z28 vs. Cobra)

well, it couldnt have been much further off, when i missed fifth, he kept going, so it was like i hit the brakes, and i havent bought a catback yet, it is only the muffler,i should have went for third, i was only at 70mph, he had that initial 4-5 mph jump cause i let him go first, from 70 to 110 or so, his bumper was 5 feet infront of mine. oh well!!! it happens

So as for your point of how fast the new GTs are, or how fast they can be made, makes no reference as to how "camaro owners better get used to losing to mustangs" F-Body production has ceased, but have you looked in the paper recently? Maybe picked up an auto trader? Not very hard to find.
IMO, leme offer you some advice. Shut your mouth, put a for sale sign on your car and sell it to someone who really appreciates the power of displacement. I never see you post in the LT1 tech section. When you do, you just repeat what others have to say, because you know nothing deep about mechanics
If you love mustangs so much, go buy yourself one, get yourself some cute little tights, a cowgirl hat, and ride your pony off into the sunset...

Maybe someone should tell those people who own Turbo Buicks, and the Sy/Tys , Supras, 1st gen DSMs, Fox Body Mustangs...blah, blah, blah to stop trying because they are all utilizing "dead" platforms. Also, while they are at it, tell anyone that has a 60's muscle car to stop trying too, the newer Mustang is going to destroy them, and modding would be a total waste of time.

On a contrary note, imagine what mustangs could do with full exhaust, slicks and gears. It works both ways. You have to have respect for a car with 57 less cubic inches, 50 less horsepower, and 30 fewer ft/lbs of torque and can get up just as fast as an LS1 fbody, respond better to mods, have a greater source for aftermarket parts, and factory Support (ford racing). Not to mention they break less and have limitless customization (fully customizable interior) plain and simple, ford listens to their customers, GM didn't. and since the fbody is no more-- they're about $10,000 cheaper than a GTO, the closest thing to an FBody available these days. All the cars(GTO, fbody, mustang)have their pros and cons, but don't be one-sided about it. (oh, and by the way, for the price of a brand new GTO, one could have an 03-04 cobra).
