Race your boss anyway to put him in his place, certainly not a waste of time to shut him and everyone else talking out of their *** up...

BTW fastformula309 you have the wrong specs for the cc305 in your sig. It's 220/230. Sounds like you screwed the pooch driving against the stage 1 SRT4, you should have been able to easily pull on a stage 1 and probably beat a stage 2 as well...

I beat a 5spd one w/ drag radials in my Lt1 a4 w/ intake/exhaust/rr's/full tuneup/free mods. It was neck and neck but I got a few feet on him cuz of how long our cars are. They have nice tires stock, he pulled on me on the launch cuz I had the **** stock tires so I couldnt floor it right away, I waited until maby 10mph and went wot and pulled on him until we were even and kept pulling everytime he shifted.(good old a4)

 

You can easily make him race you, just wait for him one day go infront of him and go the speed limit maby 5mph slower until he gets mad and tries to pass, when he gets to your door rev and gun it...race is on.

 

Sorry to keep talking about gears, but at 80 mph, you are turning 2200 rpm with 4.10's, vs around 1825 for stock 3.42's. 4.10's are too much gear for me, especially once I analyzed what they actually gain you. They only help at speeds up to about 40 mph when going WOT with a M6. After that they are about even or even slightly worse than the stock 3.42's. I already have trouble with traction, so 4.10's aren't going to help the situation much. Plus I do a lot of interstate driving, and 4.10's would spin to high for me. I've thought about 3.73's though.

Back to the original discussion, the SRT4's are easy to get to good trap speeds with minimal mods. Stock they trap around 99-101 mph in the 1/4. They have nasty wheel hop off the line though. The last time I was at the drag strip, this SRT4 was heating up his tires when staging, and the wheels were bouncing pretty wildly. It was modded, and trapped 106, but didn't look like fun to launch. One guy I met broke his half shafts twice.

Something is wrong. Either your tach is off, you have huge diameter tires, or you don't have the gears you think you do.

Did your car have a A4 to M6 conversion?

Look in his sig. He has ZO6 rims ... Their 17's so he probably has larger diameter than stock tires. This, and its VERY common for the stock tach to read about 100-200 roms low. Between these two, it might be his problem ?

 

I have 17" rims, and my tach reads just fine.

i re-checked it and its 1500rpms at 75mph but at 80 climbs a needle width or 2 right around 1600 rpms. the car has been fun ordering parts and finding out that this is aftermarket and thats aftermarket. The only things i have done are wheels, cut out, brakes, cluth and flywheel. The previous owner had done everything else. it doesnt have the stock block either, it has a caprice lt-1 w/ cast iron heads. its a possibility that there was a a4 to m6 conversion but he didnt mention it.

 

When I had my lt1 I killed a few skittles....
