i dunno about that. given equal drivers, then probably. however, getting a car quickly around a road corse is a bit more difficult than launching one from 7k. i'm guessing that if a s2000 driver can't figure out how to get their car launched, i'd prolly kick their *** in a road racing environment, as well. simply driving an s2000 doesn't entitle one to certain lt1 or gt pwnage once the road starts to bend.

A 2.73 geared LS1 auto would be the only LS1 a s2000
could even think about hanging with.

I fully believe its possible a s2000 could beat a 2.73 geared LT1,
but the s2000 driver would have to be average at least.

My experience with the s2000 is as such:

My 3.23 geared LT1 with 120k a K&N FIPK and cutout could pull
about a car or two on one downlow, and once we were both at 80 it'd be
a close race with me slightly pulling.. I have a feeling I had more
topspeed than him. The s2k had a header and exhaust, which as the
owner told me.. don't add jack. Let it also be noted that I'm pretty sure
I had some opti problems above 5k rpm.

My 4.10 geared LS1 with a lid and loudmouth absolutely raped the
same s2k by about 6-7 cars from a 30-110 race.

Depending upon your tranny and gears in an LT1 it can be a close
race. However, with a well driven m6.. you should pull quite nicely.
Some s2000s have been 13.8-14.0 but most are at the 97-99mph
range. It is not uncommon to see 100-101 out of even an average
driven M6. This equates to a few carlengths.

Peace,

i raced one a few tomes this summer. i dont think he could beat a stock lt1. i am no longer stock but i killed him so bad off the line and from a 30 roll it was imbarassing me.

now we happen to be going the same direction and he followed me to the interstate that was a differant story. he hung within a car of me from 60 to 80 (which has always been my weak spot) then id get up to the power range and put a little gap between us. if id been stock it would have been even or he may have pulled a little from 60 or 70 but the lt1 would have realed him in after the triple digits.

i think the low end insanity if the lt1 will compensate for the top end pull pf the 2k. if a stock gt can handle a 2k i havnt a stock gt that could beat my lt1. keep in mind my experiance with stock gt,s are from a few years back, so i'm shure they are a little faster know.

still dont think the 2k will beat a lt1 in the 1/4, unless the lt1 is 10 years old with 180k miles on it.

An S2000 took part in a 0-60 challenge here last year. All sorts of street legal cars were invited and it took place on an unprepped private road. The driver said before the runs that he liked driving fast cars ( meaning the S2000) and he usually beat everything on the street. Errrr.... best time 6.32 secs. 2nd run 6.82. 3rd run 7.44. At that point the clutch had gone back to its molten origins.
