So i was heading home from work and i see a Neon with a extremely large spoiler so i was thinking SRT-4. So i get out of the turning lane and pull up next to him and sure enough its and SRT-4. So when the light turns green we both take off with minimal wheel spin. I beat him up until about 80mph or so them i let off because there was a turn in the road and a bumpy bridge so he does an infamous ricer fly-by thinking that he beat me. So i pull up next to him and we go from about a 60mph roll. I beat him pretty badly. So i let him catch up and i ask him what stage it was and he says 0 so im guessing it was just a Stage 1. Also he made some lame excuss about not being able to hold boost or something. So we race one more time. This time from about a 55mph roll. He was brake-boosting, we both took off and he was about a car lenght behind me then my radar detector starts going crazy so i get on the brakes real quick. Thats the first SRT-4 ive ran into. Does this sound about right with my mods.

My friend has an srt-4, what a dog! It dosen't build boost until about 20mph and then it'll pull for a little bit, i've smoked him many times and i'm almost stock, good kill btw.

 

Of course an LS1, and a 01-02 LS1 at that, is much faster than a SRT4. They're only 100 mph cars - what did you expect?

I don't think a turbo car has been produced yet that was as fast as the LS1 cars are stock. It's what happens after they're not stock that makes people buy that kind of car.

I bet a Grand National or TTA would take out an LS1...stock to stock.

Yea those 4 cyclinders that crack 13's stock are dogs ...guess that makes LT1's dog...If you look at it from a 03 plus cobra standpoint then your LS1 is a dog

A stock standard GN wouldn't even really come close to a LS1, it would be a good race for a stock/near stock LT1 (high 13s/14.0ish). However a GNX or TTA would come within a few tenths.

I've seen some 13.4-13.6 1/4 times for the bone stock GNX and TTA, which could beat some LS1s w/ average drivers, but a good running later model LS1 w/ a good driver could match/beat that by a couple tenths without too much trouble... Of course free/cheap mods on the GNX or TTA and it'll go the other way...

Get your specs right buddy, srt-4 runs a 14.2@99.5mph stock and no matter how you look at it the srt-4 is still just a neon on steroids which is still slow.

93-96 Rx-7 are pretty even and if you get a factory modified 285hp Rx-7 R2 it would rape an LS1 but thats not stock anymore.

93-98 TT supra is another mid 13sec car which is pretty even with an ls1 stock vs stock.

 

Evo/STi are right there as far as times go in the 1/4, but they aren't "faster"

I don't consider the LS1 a mid-13's car; it's more like a low-13s car for the 01-02 models. That half second is an important distinction.

I've been building imports since 1992 (before it was "cool and trendy") so I know what's offered. I've had a half dozen DSMs, 2 Stealths, and I built my brother's Supra (11.7 @ 124 on a test run @ 19 psi).

BTW, a quick search netted 13.9 @ 100 for the RX7 R2; barely ahead of the "slow" SRT4. Supras run ~ 13.6 - 13.8 which is a few tenths behind a good-performing LS1. I've seen many stock LS1s turn 13.1-13.2 @ 106-109 mph. That kind of mph is really moving for a stock car. It's faster than many respectably modded cars from the previous 20 years.

They are the undisputed bang-for-the-buck winner and GM was stupid for killing them off. They'd be selling 400hp 6 liter F-bodies as fast as they could make them.

 

Stock, the 93-95 RX7 is a low 14/high 13 sec. @ 100 mph. Won't touch an LS1. I've had a 94 in the past. Handles very well (when it ran), but it didn't compare to my GTO. Had 2 MKIV Supras in the last few years and my M6 Supra ran dead even with a stock 98 C5 up to 140 mph....but on average, I think the newer model LS1's are a bit faster....although you never know with a Supra. Mine dyno'd 315 rwhp stock and I've seen them dyno as high as 340 rwhp stock...so take it from there.
