me vs. newer carrera?

Hi,
Last night I was driving in Roseville near Sacramento when I spotted a newer porsche carrera. I thought that I would have a little fun so I got up next to him and went into 4th gear at about 80mph. After a couple seconds I heard the dudes rev-limiter and then he hit the next gear. I nailed it, and to my suprise, I jumped out on him about five cars. He stayed there until about 125-130 or so, and then it looked like he was starting to catch up, but we had to slow for traffic.
I was just wondering if this sounded right to everyone. His car at least had aftermarket exhaust, but I don't know anything else about it. Di he possibly miss a shift or something? Let me know what you all think. I really thought it would have been a lot closer than it was.
Thanks for any info,
-Rob

not a carrera or not newer.

at the mall they had a carrera in display..

320hp 6 cylinder, from a car at least 300 pounds less than you.

sure it wasn't a boxster? otherwise he should be running with c5s.

Sounds like he couldn't drive very well if he was hitting the rev limiter like that. You never know what will happen on the street, and you won. Equal drivers = he wins.

Went against a carerra 4 at mid-ohio, and I was faster than him all day. Even in the stretch he could never leave me and man was he tryin'. End of the day he finally came up to me all smiles and wanted to know what I had in my car. I'm probably putting out about 350 at the crank tho.

Maybe it was a C4S, you had the advantage on the highway (RWD v. AWD)?

Dont know, but either way with a better driver that car would have handed me my as* in the corners at least. In the straights he was mine.

Re: me vs. newer carrera?

On paper he should have walked you if it was a relatively new model. Who knows what happened....but if you're only trapping a 100 mph, it shouldn't have been a contest. Good kill anyway though.

Awesome Kill Rob! I had a similar experience about a month ago. I had just exited the freeway and came up behind a Porsche 911 Twin Turbo on the exit ramp. Fortunately we were both going the same direction and caught a red light together. The driver looked Indian, maybe a doctor or something. Anyways, we both took off normally and I was about half a car in front of him, since I didn't want to look like a jackass by spinning my tires and making all kinds of noise. About 1/3 of the way across the intersection (15 MPH) he stood on it and I got the late jump. He was 1/4 car in front by the time things got rolling, and about 1/2 car in front at 90-100 mph where I shut down. I credit his lead to his jump, but hey, I didn't get smoked and I was very excited that I was able to hang with a $100,000 plus car. Next time I'll have the magic blue bottle and slay some Ferrari.
