Re: LS1 vs LT4

I've got a friend that just sold his LT4 96 vette at the beginning of the year. I remember a couple of times when we raced and that car was very strong for what he had done. I think it was 2 or 3 summers since I've seen the car run, but it had a filter and flowmaster exhaust (It might have had the cats gutted but I can't remember) it ran a best of 12.80 ish at 111 mph. I completely believe the number because I was there at the track and watched the scoreboard light up the numbers. I think it might be a decent race, but the LS1 will probably still nudge him out up top

Re: LS1 vs LT4

This is an interesting article on the LT1 vs. LT4 differences to give insight about the potential of the LT4.

It was trapping 104 with a 1.9 60. Odd looking time slip. It trapped kinda low for the ET and 60.

Re: LS1 vs LT4

I just thought the article was interesting. Not to be an @$# but couldn't the same be said about your 95 in your sig? 2.0 60ft w/ a 105 trap and running 13.0? Trapping Low? Is that not almost identical times to the lt4 vette in the article??? Take it with a grain of salt. I just happened to stumble across the article, and thought it was a little food for thought. Sorry it does not hold up to your standards.

Yeah that's off John LaBlanc's site, he's in Connecticut (Mallory Billet Aluminum). There is tons of info on LT1/4 combos, mods, etc. He also has a very impressive Z28 that has been in magazines in the past...

I think if all is stock on the LT4, it will lose, especially if the driver of the modded LS1 can drive. A launch can kill any race, or make you the hero even w/less power. You never know though, the car may be modified, I think if the race ever happens, the outcome will be interesting if the car is modified.

That's exactly what I thought. I also thought it was kinda weird that the guy was launching at 4500 rpms....but it seems like it worked for him.

Re: LS1 vs LT4

Race took place....85* outside both on street tires and I gave him lane choice. We were flagged and off. He pulled out of the hole and gained a fender on me, but after I hit around 4000, I pulled back in and beat him by about 2 feet at the end. All in all, very nice looking car. Now I have another LT4 wanting to race me, but since I trust he's modded, I'm waiting till I get my NO2 in

Oh..and FWIW~ I'm a dumbarse...I didn't get the exhaust back in 100% and it was ratteling against the driveshaft around turns (that was my noise problem) Just glad it wasn't more serious

Wow, close race. I thought you would take the LT4 by more than a fender. Either way you won !

Where you guys racing at a 1/16th mile track? What happened in the middle?
4-5 page thread for "He pulled out of the hole and gained a fender and I beat him by 2 feet at the end."

J/k dude!

By the way, if he was stock, and with your mods listed, the lt4 would have easily won if the cars were stock for stock. I have this gut feeling he is not telling you everything.

I'm gonna agree with MHHODGES76, he might not be telling you everything he has modded. Hey, MHHODGES76 you have a good running MACH I for your mods !

Your being an ***.
I didnt place any standards. Dont make me out to be an aZZhole when I was simply pointing something out. I figured an LT4 with a 1.9 sixty would trap 106+. I seen a LT4 vette run a few years ago on slicks running 12.9 with a 2.0 sixty trapping 106 stock. Trap just seems low for A 330HP Vette.

You dont know that for sure.
The LT4 would have the low end advantage though.
Stock for stock it would have been a good race.
