LS1 vs LT4
What's the concensus.... LS1 with Hooker L/T & catback, lid, Eagle F1 GS D3, Pro 5.0 w/Speed Inc short throw, 12 bolt Moser w/4.10 vs Stock LT4 Vette?
Guy is trying to tell me that it drops 375rwhp!?! I'm raising the but want to make sure I have him by ALOT

Re: LS1 vs LT4
stock to stock i think it would have been a drivers race...slightly more power in the LS1 but the vette is lighter.
modded...the LS1 should waste the stock vette.

So if this car runs high 12's (he's a 6 speed also) ...what do you think the mods listed above will set ME at.

Both engines were underrated. The Vette is lighter, but hurt by the IRS. Stock vs. stock it would be close, but with your mods you will kill him. See if you can borrow some drag radials for the race and really rub it in.

Re: LS1 vs LT4
I think he meant that it was only possible to get the LT4 Vette in a 6sp, not the fact he was questioning whether or not it was a 6sp. Vettes do come standard autos, so he was sayin LT4s were only 6s. Back to the point, LT4s in those Vettes were badass, the Camaros hit low 13s, the Vettes were easy high 12s, but it should be a close race. And the Vette will not loose mod for mod at all.

Re: LS1 vs LT4
The first year you could get the Corvette with a 6 speed manual transmission was in 1990, with the L-98. Prior to that was a 4 speed auto (700R4) or the 4+3 manual transmission (T10?). All LT4 corvettes were 6-speed. I think in 1996 (year of the LT4 vettes) that all manual vettes had the LT4? That might be a myth. And if you can drive, you should pull it out no problem, but only if that LT4 is stock. If the owner did bolt-ons and a hotcam swap, then he would be right around 375 hp give or take a few.

What the hell is a 4+3? My uncle had an '88 Vette and I am pretty positive it was a 6spd. I dunno though, it was weird. You could like pull up on the shifter or something and it would make it go into over drive or something
